I found one from the 1950's that I had cut to 18.5 inches and slicked up for cowboy action shooting. It also does well on skeet and birds. One of my prized guns

Years ago, I was out west riding my motorcycle and I found out about Bull Creek Arms. I contacted the gent who owns it and he sent me a nice M-97 replica.

He has been buying & rebuilding 1897s for years and does a great job. It never fails to draw a crowd at the range.

Did similar back in the late 90s when I took up CAS. Cut one down stripped off what finish it had left which antiqued it.
