Winter gear question?

Our Nephew wants a Fjallraven jacket for Christmas.
I’m familiar with North Face and Patagonia, but never heard of these folks nor do I know anything about the quality of their gear. Anyone here know anything about their gear and quality before we drop that kind of coin?
Thanks
Fjallraven is top quality, and from Sweden.

I use several of their clothing.

The sizing is European, and it seems most Swedes are anorexic since sizes run small.

If you have a Fjallraven store nearby, or a sporting goods/specialty outdoor gear store nearby that carries the brand I'd go to try on sizes that fit you. If you're ay where near Boulder , CO there's a Fjallraven store there.

Or call Fjallraven USA for assistance.

BTW - The Vidda Pro pants are my favorites.

It's a good brand I had a coat of thiers I wore out from use. My latest deep cold weather coat is a Berne canvas coat from tractor supply. And so far I have been very impressed. For slightly warmer I wear a Carhartt rain defender sherpa lined sweatshirt.

Most of the time I am found in an old leather jacket over a hooded vest.

I'm a Carhartt guy myself. Spent many, many very cold days working outside. These work. (y)
And after 3 or 4 years, once it starts to break in, and it's no longer like putting on a cast iron potbellied stove, they are very comfortable.
BIG PLUS ONE FOR Carhart. Vest and large heavy insulated flannel shirt is all but uniform around here. Had my Carhart vest for 10 years. Barring it "shrinking" from lack of work and overeating;) I expect to use it the rest of my life. $$$ well spent.

Doesn't Carhart make most of their stuff in Asia now ?
Yep. I have this one and it’s made in Vietnam.
Warmest coat I have ever owned.
