Hey folks- new to the group and late to the game. I’ve had a full size XD in .45 since they came out but I recently ran into an XD 9 mm in mod 2 and I love it. How new are they and are they staying?
 
This question is probably better suited for @xdman but I believe the XD mod line is more turning the page in the way of the Elite line. Allowing you to have more features such as threaded barrels, cut slides and optics all already built into the pistols. My first Springfield was the XDM .45 I love this pistol more then anything I’ve recently acquired. Only closely followed by my 1911 RO Elite 10mm and my Hellcat RDP. Springfield really has went out of their way to produce such quality firearms.

After calling Springfield CSSV I found the mod 2 was introduced about 2016...and most places just can’t keep them.

My first XD was a 4" XD Mod.2 in .45 ACP. It is the most accurate .45 I've ever shot, and that experience convinced me to pick up a .40 S&W and a 9 mm model. Unfortunately, Springfield announced on Twitter on June 30, 2020 that they had discontinued the Mod.2 line of handguns.

The Mod.2's are excellent guns, and you will occasionally find stores that still have a few in stock. I was lucky and picked mine up on a deep sale just before the pandemic started. You may be able to find some used models after the current shortage settles down. They probably won't stick around too long, so I wouldn't advise passing up any deals you find.

Thanx for the input, I spoke to Springfield CSSV and got some passing information on them. I’m really happy with the feel and am ready for the range.
