XDm 5.25 in 10mm take down will not rotate.

New to me XDm-10. Serial no. [removed]. Locking the slide open, mag out, chamber empty, the take down lever will not go all way up to 90 degrees. Only moves about 60 and acts as if it is against something. I'm speculating there is a piece of broken spring or something between it and the barrel. Looking for options to take it down for cleaning and inspection. As is, it is in the "Do not shoot" category. For clarification, not my first rodeo, I have several XD's XDS, XD40C XD Mod2 45 from the SA custom shop. Any help or suggestions encouraged. I'm afraid this one will have to go back to Springfield for proper repair.

For one, not a good ideal to post your guns serial number. You need to call Springfield up, don’t rely on an email, very sketchy.

Their email system sucks and they tend not to respond quickly because something is always broken.
As for the serial #... Why? Do you just run around giving random strangers info about you or things you own? It's just not smart. I'm not gonna Alex Jones Tin Foil Hat here but it's just not a bright idea, Let's leave it at that.
 
Not good at all to post any guns serial number on any web page, someone could say that's their gun with the serial number posted, it could lead to big hassles. Yea its best to call them instead of any emails.
 
I have the exact same gun. That being said, you might be correct on something being broken off that stops it from being fully rotated. Try this? Rack fully a few times and let the spring reset the slide (not force resetting by hand). No need to do anything with the trigger as I never have had too in order to remove the slide on an xdm (Glock, yes). Maybe the rod will center itself again?

Not on Xdm's you don't, once you move the latch down, you just remove the slide, no trigger pull is required, you just lock slide back, rotate latch and unlock slide release and remove the slide.

This all day^^^ with the exception that you rotate the lever UP  then depress the slide lock and pull off the slide.

The spring has never gotten in the way of any of my XD-m or XD-m Elite pistols
