From information I found online The basic XDM 5.25 10mm was discontinued over a year ago so my guess is this was a used gun although I honestly have no idea.

@Motorcycle_Dan

A seriously bad idea to post the serial number of anything online especially a firearm as you are opening the door to issues but you do you.

Edit….
Read original post again and it’s mentioned
“New to me” used gun.

Glad you got the slide off……..
A call to Springfield Armory for a new recoil spring assembly is probably a good idea.

First one I've seen. Built on the larger .45ACP frame. Have not heard it make noise yet.
I have the twin in the same caliber by the way of 40s&w. Bought it 1st, then the 10mm after it when SA was doing a special (gun w/2 (or 3?) mags purchased before a certain date, registered it (did what else was needed) and then was sent a range bag + 3 (or 2) more mags. Ended up with 5 or 6 mags and a decent range bag. I think the special was an extra $99? I wish it had a holster (paddle style), 2 mag carrier and mag loader with it like when I purchased the 40. The good news is the 10 fits into the 40 holster due to the slides being the same dimensions. Similar to 3 of my Glocks (20, 21 and 40), but the 41 slide is slimmer like the small frames. Also good news the 41 fits into the 17, 22 and 31 holster.

Isn't that about the same time SA started to make the XDm 3.8 10mm ❓
I like big bore guns and significant recoil however, a 10mm with a short barrel does not really work well. 10 gets it power from a significant powder charge and enough barrel to exploit the added pressure. IMHO an XD-40sc would likely fulfill nearly the power/size (better if you can reload)

You need to get one of these in 10mm, S&W 610, plus since you use the included moon clips, you can also shoot 40S&W

The last wheel gun I owned was a S&W Model 29 4" 44mag nickle plated.
It was nice and lots of fire at high noon. A box of 20 was enough but was awesome.

Then I went to 10mm and I have never cared for a 10mm short (.40cal).
The FBI may of wussed out and changed to a 10mm short and changed name to .40cal as for some reason guys have a issue with the word short.
If you love a 40 by all means stick with it.
