XDME issue, advice welcome

RonB

Alpha
Round chambered, won’t fire. Can’t visually see the loaded pin indicator. Tried different mags, ammo. Temp outside was 8 degrees. Well cared for and routinely cleaned. Original owner. Bought brand new. Less than 600 rounds through it. WAS my edc until this happened. Firing pin not bent, broken, stuck. First time XDME owner.

I think you’re confusing the loaded chamber indicator with the “cocked” striker indicator.

The LCI is the lever protruding up at the rear of the ejection port in your first picture.

The striker indicator would protrude out of the hole on the back of the slide in your second picture.

Did you try re-chambering the next round?

Yes, you are correct, I did confuse them. When I chamber a round the striker indicator doesn’t protrude out of the hole. I have tried re-chambering numerous times and with different
factory magazines.

When you say the firing pin is not bent, that means you have stripped your slide. Did you strip it for cleaning and perhaps lose either the striker dampening spring or the striker spring?

^ Tagging-on with @RandomHero 's thought, @RonB , can you post a picture each of the parts that you've stripped out of the slide, lined-up in the manner that you reassembled? I am also wondering if you've maybe left out something?

With the slide reassembled, using just your finger to manually claw back the striker assembly, when you take the striker all the way back towards the rear of the slide, does the striker indicator stick out from its hole in the backing plate?

And is the striker safety assembly still intact and functioning?

Can you successfully cock and drop the striker, with the weapon dry/clear - i.e. does the weapon pass function check?

No attempts were made to detail strip the lower/frame, correct? i.e. can we rule-out all possible issues of something being an issue with the lower?
