Interesting concept and although that may be possible with the larger rectangular slot shown in the picture of the grip I posted and since the roll pin that holds on the backstrap is accessible a clip could be attached I’m not sure I’d want a strap in the way of making a clean draw in an emergency.
I've got a XD-S mod 2 also and that's the only thing I could think of what the rectangle hole is for.

Word.Personally, i wouldn't put a lanyard on one either. but on an sig 320 it might be a good idea to keep from dropping it.
