yeah, fedex....sucks

The lack of choosing how you want it shipped ticks me off! Especially when you get those "can't ship to a PO box".
i know...at one time, we had (here at least), UPS, FedEx, RPS, USPS, USPS, USPS Parcel, and DHL

well DHL (i worked for them as well) is only from airport to sorting center, to delivery for international shipments only now.
and pick up back to sorting center for overseas shipments. however, i get some of my meds, picked up by DHL, and they then turn that over to USPS. otherwise, they cannot pickup/deliver to the customers.

USPS Parcel was done away with in cost cutting measures, for the letter carriers to deliver.

RPS (i worked for them) got bought out by FedEx, and turned into FedEx Ground

when we had shipping choices, the prices were competitive.

now, if only 1 shipper? not only do we lose in choices, we lose in higher shipping prices, as it's a lock-in for the seller of the products.

this is why i LOVE Amazon Prime,,,FREE same day, or next day, or 3 days tops shipping. 7 days a week.

What about carrier pigeon? Got anything on carrier pigeon?

UPS delivering today. Said between 10am-1:30. Now 6-8:30pm. Who delivers at 8:30 at night? No wonder things get stolen.
lucky (in some ways) for me, there is always someone at home. that and either the wife or me, even my son, will track my packages for us. one of my kids lives not too far, and can get here quick, if we are out.

bit i know all too well, in my area, more people are working than retired at home like we are.

this has to be a new driver.......at some point, UPS calls t a day and goes back, then comes out the next day.

i cannot recall FedEx, if they do the same.

at least with USPS, my carrier gets here by at least 12PM daily when she is on duty..

her fill-in worker gets here by 5PM

USPS said my package would be delivered today by 9pm. My mail arrives between 9 & 10 am everyday. It still says it will arrive by 9pm. Maybe it'll be here tomorrow. It's the little lady's package, she keeps asking me if another carrier might still deliver it tonight. I keep saying no.

I've had ups deliveries at midnight before. I knew the driver and she knew I'd be awake!
what i have seen, that by tracking, is that there are more than 1 shift of delivery drivers.

i know this as fact, with Amazon Prime. UPS i'd figure is the same.

so if say for instance a driver gets dispatched at 12PM, they put in a 10-12 hour shift...so yeah, midnight can be a delivery time.

i can get deliveries via Prime from 1AM to 5 AM if i want......but damn, that's in the middle of a nap for me...

update:

when i shut down for the night at or about 7:30 PM last night, i went to take my shower....the doorbell rang at 7:40...wife checked and it was my package.

even after "they said"........ "delivery now pending, no scheduled date"...........meaning not anymore possible delivery, they delivered.

so of course i get the "delivered package email, how did we do"?

you can be assured i unloaded on the SOB's.

thing is, that "review" will fall on deaf ears.

Funny enough, I was expecting a holster via FedEx yesterday and received a "package delayed" message saying it won't make it. But then, the package was waiting for me last night on my front porch, I guess the driver changed his mind :D

We're in a small town so we get to know the drivers pretty well, same guys on the route every time, maybe that helps. But as soon as there is transit through Boston, MA it is going to be terribly late, gotta play the union's game I guess.

USPS locally is also OK, but some employees in the larger town next to us treat the distribution center as their own supermarket so very often tracking numbers end there and things disappear. Complaining to the inspector general does nothing but put you on the $hite list for the next go around... I swear there's a USPS employee in Nashua who's got a nicely furnished AR with my stuff

i am wondering if..."delayed" or "no schedule date" are standard emails when they driver(s) go past a time frame point in deliveries for the day..???

some time ago, i spoke with a new UPS driver. he got to my house like after 9PM.

he told me that they cannot return if they have any undelivered packages in the truck, they MUST deliver them all.

the only "return" packages to the HUB would be if a signature was required, or wrong address.
