    Speed Loader

Well… They used to include a fairly crappy one with the XDm.

TRP in 9mm this coming shot show?

The nice yhinh is that it’s a pretty simple barrel & mag swap (well, yes, the barrel needs to be fitted…). I have a .38 Super barrel for my RIA TCM, making it a triple threat; .22TCM, 9mm, and .38 Super.

Another vote for the UPLULA. I have 3 of them. I don’t think the single stack adapter is necessary, though. I’ve used the UPLULA on 1911 and P7 mags with zero difficulty.

    Middle Aged 870 Magnum

A few years ago, a bought an old & beat up 870 Wingmaster that still had the barrel s/n matched to the receiver; only took 2.75” shells, though. Action was as slick as could be. Chopped the barrel to 18.25”, added a Scattergun +2 extension, a XS big dot tritium front sight, and put a corncob...

First Look: The New Springfield Armory TRP Series

If it wasn’t a negative, the high end manufacturers would be using MIM. They don’t. They use tool steel.

First Look: The New Springfield Armory TRP Series

Again: Replacing proper tool steel parts in a 1911 with MIM is not an improvement to the design.

First Look: The New Springfield Armory TRP Series

At the end of the day, replacing tool steel parts—particularly the fire control parts—with MIM is not an improvement to the 1911 design.

First Look: The New Springfield Armory TRP Series

Dan Wesson 1911’s have no MIM parts, and is under $2k. And they are just as high quality, if not higher, than a TRP.

    .38 Special +P Data

I like the 158gr Remington SJHP in my 4” 10’s and 64. The 125gr+P version ain’t too shabby, either. That, or the classic FBI load; 158gr SWC-HP +P.

What are you doing right now??

Covering for overtime. Bonus: the other control room operator brought in her breakfast tacos…and they are delicious. Gotta love homemade tortillas…

    .38 Special +P Data

I loaded some .38+P cases to .38/44 loads. I just ran them out of a 686, but I wouldn’t fret about using them in a K-frame. Remember, Elmer Keith ran some of his .38/44 loads through a J-frame Chief’s Special when they first came out to demonstrate their durability…and I’m sure his loads were...

First Look: The New Springfield Armory TRP Series

Again, I don’t care. If Dan Wesson can make non-MIM 1911’s that are as good if not better quality than the TRP, there’s no good reason Springfield can’t. Honestly, at $2k, you can find a gently used Baer, Wilson, or Brown…hell, I just paid considerably less than that for a LNIB Wilson SFX9...

First Look: The New Springfield Armory TRP Series

Don’t care. If you’re gonna charge $2k for a 1911, put tool-steel forged parts in it.

HK-USA CC9 Redefines the Micro Compact Market

Heck…half the time you can’t even FIND the brass from a 91; launches it about 20-30 feet, easy.

Is a .22LR round plausible for self defense?

I really like the Aguila Interceptor 40gr plated flat points in my 43C.

What are you doing right now??

More EMT refresher. Started off by having to call in LifeFlight at 7:00 for a real incident. Two people rode 50’ of scaffolding down. Not fun. I think that should be enough class…

Is a .22LR round plausible for self defense?

One minor difference between humans and animals… Animals don’t think “oh my (deity of choice)…I’ve been shot!” and quit over a non-fatal, or even serious wound. Most people do.

HK-USA CC9 Redefines the Micro Compact Market

That’s kinda HK. They don’t beta test their guns on the public (cough cough Springfield, Ruger…); they usually only release a new model when it’s thoroughly vetted and fully reliable.

What are you doing right now??

Sitting in EMT refresher class. Death by PowerPoint.
