    Understanding Folding Knife Lock Types

Liner locks of a basic type go back a lot further than Walker and the 1980's The venerable T-29 electricians knife uses a liner lock to lock the screwdriver / stripper blade open and it goes back to before WWII, The Schrade Uncle Henry 197UH Cats Paw uses a liner lock and I got my first in the...

    AC delivered to wrong house

I feel for you. When they planned my subdivision one street makes a circuit all around the neighborhood. Unfortunately it changes names three times with Wesmere Lakes Dr changing to Willow Lakes Dr. Not only that but the house numbers duplicate but are on the opposite side of the street...

New Ronin EMP 3 rear sight is blackout not white dot

With the white dots I found I was spending too much time and trying too hard to get them all lined up. I am 72 and my eyes do not focus on multiple things as well as in my youth. After blackening my rear sight I just focused on the front sight and it centered naturally. I shot better because...

New Ronin EMP 3 rear sight is blackout not white dot

After shooting it with the three dot I removed the white with a small hand turned drill bit and filled them in with black. I much prefer the all black rear but like the fiber optic front a lot.

Upgrading my new SA Garrison 45ACP

The XP Spring is a firing pin spring. SA uses an XXP firing pin spring to aid in passing drop tests. My preference is for the XP one that comes with a Wolff Recoil spring. My Ronin is a 9mm and SA uses a 9lb recoil spring and I changed mine to an 11 pounder.

Upgrading my new SA Garrison 45ACP

I believe that all Springfield 1911's have the titanium pin and xxp spring. I know my Ronin did. I put a Wolff XP spring in it when I changed recoil springs. I have never had a light strike and it goes off every time.

    Hornet at 50

A lot of people forget the F/A-18 Hornet started out as a Northrup project with McDonnell as a partner. It lost out against the F-16 as an Air Force fighter. The Navy went to Mcdonnell Douglas about adapting it to carrier use and the rest is history. The F/A-18 is one of my favorite aircraft.

What Is the Best Caliber for Self-Defense?

Exactly what I was going to say. Just make sure you are using a good proven load in it.

    38 special

The .38 Special still has it's place. A lot of people who get small .357 Mags end up using .38 Spl because they don't care for the recoil from the magnum. I noticed that there were a number of good loads not listed. Like the go-to Speer 135 Grain Short barrel load, the fairly new Federal 130...

Spare FP questions; EB, Caspian, Other?

Well; An Ed Brown # 825 pin is coming. I was offered a deal on it I couldn't pass up. Since I already had a minimal bid on the Caspian pin I may end up with it too but at a little under $11.00 shipped I don't mind having an extra. Question for those with a lot more experience: Should I go...

Spare FP questions; EB, Caspian, Other?

No recommendation? I like the look of the Caspian but think the Ed Brown may be the better firing pin.

Spare FP questions; EB, Caspian, Other?

I am looking to put a few parts aside as spares for my Springfield 9mm Ronin 5" I have recoil springs but I believe I'll pick up a spare Firing pin. The Titanium FP in my Ronin has been completely reliable and has a tip dia of 0.063. Three questions: One: I am looking at an Ed Brown #825 (.065...

    Storm Chasers

Those guys have big brass ones. The other type of storm chaser I don't have much use for; the ones that come around after a storm wanting to check your roof and siding for damage. We had light hail and thunderstorms a few days ago and the next day they were ringing the bell and beating on...

After all these years , something of grandfathers

That is wonderful. I have nothing of my Paternal Grandfathers but I do have my Maternal Grandfathers pipe holder which I played with as a kid. I also have my Great Grandfathers hewing hatchet and draw knife. He was a carpenter, built barns and died in the late 1920's I did rehandle the hatchet.
