OK, I will ask. What prevents the .45 barrel from fitting the 10mm frame?Slide will fit, barrels however are NOT interchangeable.
Ask me how I know....![]()

The locking hoods are different.Diameter, I suspect.
+100The locking hoods are different.
I have a 3.8" XDM-Elite in both calibers. I was hoping to be able to switch barrels and mags to be able to carry either and only buy one Holosun 508t, well imagine my shocking surprise!
The hood on the 10mm is narrower than the .45, the barrel diameter is the same size in both. The .45acp would not lock up at the breech face.
The 10mm in the .45 slide was all over the place, as in NOT safe.

The hood locks up in the slide so if both the slide and barrel are changed then why won't this work as long as the lugs fit up correctly in the frame?+100
Welcome to the forum from South Texas.Does anyone know if the slide and barrel from a .45 ACP XD-M will fit to the frame of a 10mm gun so you could have a dual caliber gun?
Do you have a .45 acp slide and barrel with no lower? The hood locks up in the slide so if both the slide and barrel are changed then why won't this work as long as the lugs fit up correctly in the frame?
I have an XD-M 5.25 in 10mm. I was wondering if I was to find a slide and barrel in .45 auto if they would fit my frame so I could shoot both calibers. It would require having the slide, barrel and mags for each caliber. May need to swap recoil spring too.
Thread 'Springfield Stingy With Spare Parts?' Good luck with that, OP.I believe they will.
Problem is, Springfield won’t sell you a slide.
Yes, you are right, that would probably be the best way to go. I just thought being able to switch calibers would be interesting. Back when the Bren Ten was first announced they were to offer a version with 2 slides and barrels in 10mm and .45 auto. Dont know if any were ever shipped that way.Look, bluntly speaking, buy another gun. Once you buy the slide, barrel, magazine and recoil spring you're going to spend 3/4-7/8 of the money of a complete firearm. Good used XDM-Elite, XDM or very reasonable priced.
I don't think offering a convertible had anything to do with their demise. So we see how that worked out for the Bren Ten.
