Ammo for Comped Echelon ?

Personally I learned by actually running different ammo through a Glock 43X was picky about what went through it. Since then I run more Ammo Inc through my hand guns. For 9MM I run 124 grain FMJ (full metal jacket). For self defense I go with Hornedy critical duty and from time to time I’ll do critical defense. But all this is from hitting the range and trying out different stuff.

Honestly I know Illinois is not as bad as California but mine was not bad at all. I took the plunge and did the classes and applied in no time I got mine. I have a friend out in California that is an instructor (and all I got told was “as long as you’re law abiding citizen then you’re good”).

Yes 100% read your ammo boxes
Blazer, Remington and Federal all state very clearly (in tiny print that no one would read) that they are not for use in ported, comped or for duty. New shooter so did some Reddit reading and then checked my ammo boxes. The jackets on those brands are thinner and can send fragments in different directions at pretty high velocity. S&B 115 grain = no worries for ported or comp’d

That depends on the jacket type.

What to watch out for are the plated or “TMJ” bullets. Blazer and Federal Champion (and a few others) are this type.

Most actual FMJ are good to go.

I’ll say it. Go for it and learn what you can. Yes it’ll seem like an eternity to get but when you do it’ll be a big relief. Just remember to go to the range and practice. I talked to people out here that got there’s and don’t even practice.
