ATF decision impinges upon Beretta 1301 tactical shotgun

So is the gov’t planning to restrict everything else that’s made with imported parts? If they did wouldn’t Santa’s sleigh be a lot lighter this year! I can remember at one time AK’s that were imported had to have a certain number of “domestic” parts to make the feds happy. I’m sure there are US contractors that can step up and help Beretta get over this huddle!

Agree, if all imported parts are now not allowed, what’s next, complete guns, primers, powder, most all gun accessories……..

Zastava AK's are imported from Serbia to the Chicago area...once here they have to disassemble and re-machine a host of parts, then reassemble with several US-made parts to qualify for this stupid law. This law is still in effect, btw.

aren't some IWI units first made is Israel, then shipped here for the same process, and, come to think of it - a lot of foreign stuff not just firearms. Do we not get autos from europe, canada, mexico and asia too?
Or parts for car assembled in the US? Broken record that I am, it's well past time to remove all rule making authority from all agencies, departments & agencies and their unelected near unaccountable bureaucrats. Make Congress do the job they are elected and PAID to do. Stand up go on the record, yea or may. While we are at it no "omnibus" rules packages either. Each stands or falls on its own merit.

Well, maybe someone here in the U.S. can make those parts?
Could be done, but then it's not a Serbian Zastava... IIRC, the bolt, receiver and barrel all need to be re-machined in some fashion or another. I do remember the muzzle device sent from Serbia is removed (and tossed) and replaced with a US-made standard design AK 45-degree compensator. Please...I might not be remembering everything...been a few years.

Anyone want to buy this one ? $10,500 plus shipping.

Gun owners are to the ATF what Trump has been to the libs for years, they must defeat us at any cost. Fret not friends, the sword of the rituose is mighty and will win the day every time.

The 922r Compliance is still in effect and I know some people have had issues with SBRing the new MAC 5 subgun because it doesn't have the requisite US made parts. I don't know why this would be the case with a shotgun though as 922r is when you are modifying a gun and are now the maker.

It's always been that way. Ask anyone who bought a Benelli M4 and had to come up with 4 US made parts to make it 922R compliant.

I assumed that Beretta was getting away with it because they now have a headquarters in the US.

Does that apply to the Panzer, which is a Turkish clone of the M4?
From what I’m reading it was only regarding changing to a 7 round mag capacity and really only on the M4 that 922r was an issue. Beretta avoided the problem by Beretta USA installing the mag tube in the US. My guess is there is some contention as to whether or not importing parts from Italy and assembling the finished shotgun here constitutes a US made shotgun.

This is kind of an aside but to quote Hedley Lamarr, "My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives".

I confess to owning shotguns and rifles made in Germany, Italy, Japan, and Belgium. And a SIG made in Germany. And one rough Huglu. But, I regard firearms and ammunition as a component of America's Critical Manufacturing Sector. We should be making our own guns and ammo. Relying on foreign entities for manufacturing of such items is not in the best interest of our national security. Supply lines from countries like Belgium, Germany, Italy, and Japan are pretty secure, but even that can change with world events. Glock and SIG recognized the need for their products to become American and built plants here as did Japanese auto manufacturers. If we can manufacture it here, we should. We have the talent here at home and need to secure future capabilities.

BTW, Mrs Greener drives a Volvo that was made in S.C.
