Bought my First XD

Hi All,

Noob here, bought my 1st XD (XD-S Mod.2® 3.3″ .40 SW) at a show yesterday. Always wanted a .40 and the size is right for a EDC.

Box contained, the XD, a bag, lock, instructions, 1 extra fiber (red) and 1 extra mag (for a total of 2 mags). It was in a cardboard box unlike other guns I've bought that came in a plastic case with foam inserts. Does it sound like I got everything?

Can't wait to go to the range and run a few hundred rounds through it.

John

Congrats and enjoy John. My Hellcat came similarly packaged in a box with the same items mentioned (I'm guessing you left out the paperwork i.e. Manual, registration card, etc.). My XD's (XDs,XDe,XDMod.2 (all 3.3" 45's), and XDm 5.25" 10mm), all came in plastic cases (but no bag included), some because of Springfield's "Gear Up" promotion stuff came with it (larger plastic case), other times I had to send for the "Gear Up" promotion stuff online (gun came in smaller plastic case). I think SA went to cardboard boxes but now include the shooting bag, to make it easier and smaller to take to the range. It sounds like you got everything, (I'm forgetting if any came with cleaning brush, patch pull, oil, etc., as some manufactures include), good luck at the range.

Thanks BET7! yes reg card and other paper included :)

Welcome to the forum. I would like to say that if you haven't already , you should take the gun down and give it a good cleaning and relube it. When I bought my XDs .45 ( mod 1 ) I found the striker channel was full of gunk. It looked like someone had poured 90 weight gear lube into it.

Good luck with the new firearm.

Congrats on not buying a Glock!

On a serious note, you'll love the XD. The whole line is highly underrated.

First handgun I ever bought (a few month ago) was a Walther PPQ 9mm. Went to a show and after handling a hundred or so makes and models I liked the Walther the most. Great ergonomics, nice trigger and fits my hand very well.
All the Glocks just didn't feel right and had a serious "meh" factor. On a side note, my wife has a Masada 9mm and she is not a Glock fan either.
I recently took the ccw class and then did a one on one with an NRA Instructor for a few hours to learn and have been dryfire practicing at home and getting to the range weekly since then. If time permits I'll get to the range this week with the XD and continue learning all I can.

This can be quite addicting 😁😁

Thanks for the replies and the warm welcome everyone!

I wanted to do a field strip and clean before running rounds through it. Thanks for the reminder.

Nice, I know what you mean about collecting. I starting in 2012 (started late, & looking back, I wish I started a lot sooner). Total is in triple digits, several military collectables and such. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on one's outlook ;)), there no one here to stop me. 😁

Range day update, definitely need to get used to trigger. This is my first go at 10 yards, got closer to center towards the end.
Love the gun, waiting on the extra mags I ordered to keep the Uplula happy😁
