CA Fed judge rules again mag ban, again.

Hellcat
The second time this judge rules against the mag ban in California. If the first ruling against it didn’t change anything what makes one think that a second will? I guess it is movement in the right direction.

i read that yesterday....it means we have hope here in RI, to restore our large capacity mags.

(we been waiting to hear/see what was going to happen in CA)

That's a nice win, but the anti's will shop for a bent judge to re-hear the case.
What we need for all time, is to have two opponents (one Right, one Left) fight to the death to decide the gun issues. Of course the guy from the Right gets his gun of choice with unlimited ammo. The guy from the Left gets his Gun Free Zone sign, a social worker (to intervene) and a Webster's collection of hijacked words and preferred pronouns.

They won't need to. It is being appealed to the 9th.

what did they do there..???
Last year you had to demonstrate safe handling and proficient shooting at 7,10,25 and 25 yards 50 rounds 80% total like NRA pistol.
Then they changed it in July to the RPO standard requiring 50 rounds
Timed at various distances both hands, strong hand, weak hand, kneeling, from ready and concealed holster. Now they changed it again which is similar to original but start with a holstered weapon.

what was that.

i honestly do not recall

thanks in advance.
In a nutshell
On January 10, 2023, Illinois enacted a law making it illegal to manufacture, deliver, sell, or purchase an assault weapon. Any assault weapons that are already owned by residents are legal to possess if registered with the state police by January 1, 2024. In Illinois assault weapons include any centerfire semi-automatic rifle with a detachable magazine and one or more of these features: a pistol grip, a thumbhole stock, a folding or telescoping stock, a forward grip, a flash suppressor, or a grenade launcher. A number of other rifles, shotguns, and pistols are also defined as assault weapons, including some specific makes and models. Not considered assault weapons but similarly restricted are .50 caliber rifles
It encompasses almost every semi auto made. The Remington 870/1187 and others like it as well. No rifle can hold more than 10 rds. Pistols are 15. We MUST register our firearms with the state police!!!

Is it not the case in all states with a CCW permit that you have to show proficiency in using the firearm to get your permit?

In Texas, its rather lax to be honest.
Stevie Wonder could pass the firing portion of the test

No in many states you just apply for a permit, they run a background check and you get your permit.
I have a PA permit as well and didn't have to shoot 1 round.

Yeah, I think the key word is how "proficiency" gets defined. From what I've seen, it's defined as, "can you hit the side of a large barn from 15' away?"

Same in Virginia.
