Housing costs have gone up drastically almost everywhere, but especially in the hard red states since that's where the majority of those leaving blue states are ending up. Sad thing is they bring their blue state politics with them to the red states gradually changing the state's politics purple then to blue.
I play poker with a group that includes just such a guy. Nice enough guy but since he and his family moved here all he talks about is how he doesn't like the way things are run here ... how he feels things should be run more like where he left. Ask him about why he left and his first reply is "the politics, taxes, etc". (Duhhh!)
But the cost of housing is on the verge of going totally crazy in the next couple years all over due to the influx of 5.8 million (last number I heard) of the illegal migrants who have arrived in the past three years plus the number of that 5.8 million working right this minute having anchor babies so as to reduce the probability of being deported in the next 8-10 years. That's a hell of a lot of people coming into anywhere in such a short time.
And note, I'm not complaining about the illegal migrants taking advantage of this country's current administration allowing, inviting, and even enabling them to come. I'm blaming the administration. When this kind of migration number occur, legally or otherwise, the education, healthcare, housing, and public service resources simply can't take the impact over such a short time. Our kid's schools are overloaded, many times requiring a backing up of the curriculum to accommodate those migrants from lesser educated countries, costs for second language teachers and facilitators, costs for a second language printing of school materials, legal paper work, even street signs and other public publications, etc.
Think about that for a minute ... 5.8 known illegals, who knows how many got always, some number of legal immigrants, and of course the number of home grown and birthed citizens out of that 5.8 million. It all adds to a big number in a short time folks, and they all have to find a place to live.
