Even the everyday shooter benefits from having a chronograph in their kit.

CFE on which cartridge? My chronograph told me to pay close attention with CFE pistol powder at MAX charge
That just shows how effective the cartridge is!Years back I had the Crony coronagraph, worked great till my uncle shot it straight on with a .44 mag........wasn’t much left after that......
CFE on which cartridge?
Nosler or Sierra @ 135gr? Sierra no longer has them and I liked them better. I have 2 carbines in 10mm and they are hot!10mm , 135gr , 5" barrel
Hit Max speed at 0,2 gr before max charge
By the time I hit max charge it was WHOA
I haven't tried any cfe in the 10, but blue dot had been a hot load. Works great in my g20 and g40, but not so well in my xdm (5.25). I do need to chrono. Silhouette is also a go to in my 10s.135 gr Nosler , CFE 10.2 gr max
I started at 10.0gr @about 1570fps then 10.1 @1600 , 10.2 @ 1630 fps
So I went to 10.3 @ 1727 fps , and that was enough of a spike for me.

I'm not sure where you got the info, but Hodgson's site has the load data you posted. The chamber on your pistol must be smaller than their test barrel. I'm glad your buildup was productive and safely tested! That was definitely a big spike!135 gr Nosler , CFE 10.2 gr max

I understand, because I do the same thing on anything I can (357sig @40k+). Others on here have their opinions about "rolling your own". Some guns will let you and I have "I feel the need for speed"! If it can be safely done, go for it!I went over max because -- I WANTED TO
Okee Dokee then. But did you ever figure out why the big spike load with only a .01 gr increase from an OK load?I went over max because -- I WANTED TO
I guess the question then is ..... how do you know it can be "safely done" until after the fact? I assume if it doesn't blow off a few fingers or a hand, or blow your gun apart, then it was "safely done", 'cause if it did blow off a few fingers or a hand, or blow your gun apart, you likely wouldn't be able to post, huh? Then we'd never know if it was "safely done".I understand, because I do the same thing on anything I can (357sig @40k+). Others on here have their opinions about "rolling your own". It is a big velocity jump for sure and for .1gr seems like something could be off? Neither of us are there too verify. As long as the case, primer and/or action has no over pressure signs then it should be safe!I guess the question then is ..... how do you know it can be "safely done" until after the fact? Just askin' y'all.
