Club membership renewal time

My club’s dues are from July to July, we have a lake with small boat ramp, camping area with shelter, rifle range and 2 handgun ranges. It’s a $100.00 a year, but since I am retired, and over 55 plus a member for about 30 years now, I get a honorary yearly membership

Thankfully we never really have an issue with tactical timmies at our club. If anything you might get a few people who are inexperienced but I have never seen one doing anything specifically dangerous.

The ammo thing is infuriating. Prior to NY passing the new ammo laws, I could go to Sportsmans Warehouse any time and day and get pretty much anything I wanted for a good price. 45 and 10 was still a little high, but they would run good sales. Selection was great and 9MM was almost pre-Covid prices. Now teh entire sotre has maybe half the selection they did and prices are going back up
Sportsman warehouse is my go to place for ammo also our prices are still good so far 12.99 to 13.99 a box of 9 mm ain’t all that bad . 45 are ok also 22lr I ones I like CCI mini mags they high 12.99 for 100 sometimes 14.99

2 clubs.

End of November paid my $70 for the club 2 minutes away, due in June. Simple range - 20, 50, 100 & 200 yards. Rifle & handgun, no shotgun. Daylight hours, no staff, clean up your mess ... it's also got fishing ponds and camp grounds. I use this club for quick sight-ins and general shooting. It's so close I've gone 4 times in one day when working on a gun or 2. No guests!

2nd club is 25 minutes away. Also $70 for the year after a couple of volunteer hours. Rifle range - 50, 100, 200 & 300 yards, 15 bays. Pistol - 7, 15, 25 & 50 yards, around 14 bays. 2 trap, 1 skeet & 1 shotgun pattern ranges. 1 indoor & 1 outdoor archery. Indoor air rifle. And the west range where different action shoots are setup on some fair weather weekends but good for steel targets at all other times. Trap & skeet just pay $5 for your clay birds and $10 on some of the organized action shoots. I can bring 2 guests to any range at $2/person/range for as long as we are there. Scheduled Action shoots as well as trap & skeet hours open to the public for $6 for the clays. Always seems like something is going on but it's never too crowded to get in. Nice big indoor clubhouse with water, soda, snacks($1) & BEER ($2) anytime. Don't feel like shooting, just stop in and have a beer lol.

that's why the owner and his wife dubed us the "breakfast club"

there is me, and maybe all of 6 others that show up during the week, that early (opens at 10 AM)\\the others come on in as i am about to leave..

sometimes, retirement has it's "rewards"
regarding this posting from me:

I went to that public range this morning (12/26/23) and "heard" from the RSO (that sold me his Dillon), that they cut his days and hours once again......

he is retired as well, but likes that extra cash, like other retiree's like too.

also said that the range is going to change operational hours AGAIN....

"looks like" they will open at 12 PM, and close at 8 PM....

if this happens, it's screw up MY DAYS, as i try to be HOME by 12 PM, due to things the wife needs to do, or other obligations that i have.

and yes, that will also INTERFERE with my afternoon naps...but seriously, i do not believe the owner is taking into consideration of it's long time members.

but in the end..?? it's a business decision, that i will take steps to seek out someplace else, as well.

good thing also this morning, a check for my club got put into the mail for the 2024 dues.....

i even took a buddy of mine from the range there, for the free 25¢ tour, and only charged him a dollar...

he was impressed with several facts.....

close to HIS home

24 hour shooting

7 days a week

when he gets back from his wintering in Florida, he's going to contact me, and ask me more questions, he already has an application i gave him.

I just went to Sportsmans Warehouse last night. Had a $100 gift card. Walked out without anything
Ammo selection was abysmal. Worse than Covid. No 9MM FMJ at all. None. Not a box. They did have some Blazer 10MM for $28.99/box which isn't bad for here.
No 223/5.56 either. It's sickening

Was at my shop yesterday to get the G30, same situation with ammo, far far worse then Covid, hardly anything In stock and what you did see price was outrageous

For me, it's issues with buyers from NY. Ever since they passed that horrible law requiring the background checks, NY'ers keep coming here any buying everything. I'm only about 1/2 hour from the NY state line and about 1.5 hours from Buffalo

And Sportsman's Warehouse is right in the hub of the major retail area in Erie and it's right off the major highway that runs from NY through Erie

i wonder if your LGS can maybe take "reservations" from in state residents such as yourself?

then maybe put a time limit on when you can go and get what you reserved?

that way, if you don't show up, they can put it on the shelves.??

My wife's cousin works at Sportsman's. I am going to have her contact him and see if he can see about at least letting me know when they are getting some in.

I do need to hit some LGS's too. There just aren't any that are geographically convenient for me.

as @Hammer67 just mentioned at posting 53, you "might be" better off ordering online, and IF you have problems with say "porch pirates?" maybe have your orders sent to a pick up merchant..??

i dunno, i feel for you, having those "damned Yankee's" being Ice Holes.......
