Colin Noir Hellion Review

Capacity aside, I'd take the Hi Point 995 over the Hellion.
I can't get past the way the top rail looks on the Hellion. And the hi Point can be had for less than $300, leavin gmoney for accessories or ammo

And if you want to get fancy, you can do this. And you can get them in Flat Dark Earth, OD Green, Desert Tand and Artic Grey, too. The Bullpup stock runs $250. So, for about 1/4 the price of the Hellion, you can have this.

So your saying instead of buying a proven 5.56 rifle that takes standard AR mags, to go with a pistol caliber, let's cross our fingers and hope this thing works, 10 round max capacity monstrosity?

Sorry no offense but I wouldn't trade my Hellion for 10 Hi-Points.

@Annihilator on the other hand would gladly trade a kidney for a new Yeet Cannon.

And that bullpup conversion has an atrocious trigger….I mean absolute horse poop.

I’m not a huge Hellion fan, but I’d take an actual combat rifle (minus the FA FCG) than a cheap gang-banger toy.

The main thing that strikes me about it is the safety selector and bolt release. Looks like they were going for the HK thing.
Very G36-ish.

The Hellion might not be for everyone but I find mine fun to shoot and it has not had a single malfunction. I love it's looks. But don't expect it to be an AR.

Like any new or new to you car, you have to get in and familiarize yourself with where all the controls are. Initially you think, hmmm, that's a weird location or operation. And if you just jump in a strange vehicle at night in the rain storm and try to go down the road next thing you know your fumbling going down the road looking for switches in the dark. Lot'sa bad things can happen here. The same with a new style rifle. But, you know what, after a while the new car becomes as comfortable and familiar as the old one ... time and practice.

Like colin said, some things are familiar (yep, the steering wheel is where it should be) but other things are not (where the h___ is the dang wiper switch). In the middle of a storm is not when you want to be figuring it all out, in a car or with your new rifle.

1st time I shot my AR10 it didn't have the same feel and familiarity as my old bolt action .308.

Well spoken. 😁👍

Cliff notes:

Bear couldnt find the wiper switch and shot it with a .308 🤪

Like the first time you shoot an IWI Tavor TS-12.

So I just finished watching the video and although for me I’ll stay with how I feel about how it looks I will say I understand the appeal.
I will say that Colin calling everyone that is left handed a weirdo was not funny at all but I’m sure “hoping” he was kidding.
My opinion.

You know he was kidding brother. I tease my left handed buddy all the time. Tell him he's the devil, etc.. I also tell my best friend who is half Japanese ( and half redneck white boy) every December 7th I'm gonna kick him in the balls. When we still had the band I would make him say "Godzirra" on stage. People loved it. It's funny. They tease me back of course. My nickname is Bitchin' Bob or Silent Bob. I think anything said without malice is simply a joke. I have a few black friends who like to tell "Black jokes". My boy Stash calls me cracker. It's all good.

Anyway, I saw one of Colion's videos yesterday, I forget which, but he was wearing a t-shirt that said:

If you're not happy single
You won't be happy married
Happiness comes from guns

:)

The Hi Point carbines are proven. While ugly, they work. And in my post, I said, "capacity aside".

But, I will admit, I did fail to take into account 5.56 vs 9MM. That's a very fair point.

But, sorry, I just can't get past the looks of the Hellion for the $1700 price tag.

I mean, I think it's great they make it, and that people like it. I am just saying for my money, it ain't happening.

A large enough percentage of their handguns have suffered catastrophic failure that it's going to be hard to get many people interested in anything they produce.

Right after the Ferguson riots there was a STL County cop at a Quick Trip in Berkeley about a block away from the yard I was working out of at the time. He was ambushed and a thug got the drop on him. Fortunately for the officer the thug's Hi Point 9mm jammed. The officer's Glock did not. Somehow this episode caused more riots.
