Colorado in the news

This is off topic to this discussion but the insanity actually started with Colorado legalizing Marijuana.

When I got out of the Army in 1995 I went to work for a carpet cleaning company. I was going to people's houses and the homeowners were telling me that they had sold the identical home in California and moved to Colorado with enough money from the sale of their home in California to buy the house they were in now outright with money left over.

The more people from California that showed up here the farther left Colorado went.

But, as I mentioned above the straw that really broke the camel's back was when we legalized recreational weed.

People from all over the country moved here for "free" weed. Homeless people moved here from all over the country for "free" weed. Our homeless populations skyrocketed after that bill passed.

The cartels moved into Colorado and started growing weed here for export into the rest of the states. It's much easier to smuggle weed across the border to Kansas than it is to smuggle weed from Mexico to Texas, New Mexico, Arizona,

The banks in Colorado won't touch weed money. So marijuana sales have become an all cash business. That's just begging organized crime to come into the state and they most assuredly have come.

What I find funny is that the weed stores that are trying to abide by the laws are going out of business left and right because they can't compete with the illegal weed dealers. Or they're being shut down because organized crime got into the business, sucked them dry and left them bankrupt.

This doesn't get talked about very much but the magazine capacity restrictions that passed in 2013, (other than the Big Chain stores like Sportsman's Warehouse and maybe Scheels) are routinely ignored. I could walk into almost any gun store in town and buy any magazine I want.

That really makes me wonder if this new semi-automatic weapon ban is going to meet with the same level of compliance.

I don't know if this bill is going to pass this session but I'm absolutely convinced that it will pass eventually.

Having said that, I think gun owners in Colorado most of us see this coming and are stocking up now.

I've talked about this a bunch when the first magazine capacity restrictions passed in 2013 I sold off almost every gun I owned and started over with mostly 9 mm Glocks and more Glock magazines then I will ever need. I am going to die with Glock magazines that I never even took out of the wrapper. I don't think I'm the only person in Colorado that did that.

I suspect it is going to take Generations for that bill to have any effect. Similarly, I think it is going to take Generations for this current bill to have any effect and that won't start until it passes. And since I'm absolutely convinced that humanity is running out of time anyway I don't think it's going to have time to really have any effect in Colorado.

I'm not sure how relevant this is to the discussion at hand but my wife and I have pretty much decided that once we get to the Goat Ranch we're not leaving the property unless we are required to do so.

We're hoping to stay far enough off the radar that most of the insanity will pass us by.

Oh, it wouldn't catch everyone, no question there. But it would most likely prevent the criminal who meets someone on Armslist or something and dupes a well-meaning seller from getting what he's after. You and I will most likely agree that nothing is going to stop two straight-up criminals from doing criminal stuff. The BGC is one I'm ok with. No database of owners or that kind of thing, but a background check is reasonable in my book, as well as a good idea.

As I said, there is no way to enforce BGC on person to person sales without a firearm registry. The only people who would follow that law would be the ones who want to.

Is this what happens with mass migrations from California?

Yes.JPG

I escaped in time to avoid this nonsense.

So, do you think that his run for VP has hurt his chances of re-election? If he can or will run again?
My personal opinion is - that show he put on during the election did hurt his chances of re-election. It just confirmed (in my opinion) what a buffoon he is. Unfortunately there are still people in the state who will bow down to the blue. Time will tell.

To be honest, “liberal” types have been moving from their home states and relocating in “red” states for years.
But the perception is that the liberals are moving to the 'red' states. That implies that the Conservatives aren't the ones leaving.

Isn't that backwards ?

All I can say that speaking of somebody from Colorado the demographic that appears to be moving here is rich liberals from California.

They're moving to Colorado to escape the insanity of California and doing the best they can to turn Colorado into California

And you Americans deserve what you got for electing Biden ?
I didn't elect Biden and nor did the majority of Americans. If Biden won legitimately in 2020, what happened to the 18 million votes that didn't get cast this election? They said more people voted than ever before yet there was 18 million votes less than in 2020.
WTF did you do?

Get active in your state's politics. If you're a conservative, I assume you are, get involved with your state's conservative movement. I am and do. Alabama is slowly turning blue and I do everything I can to slow the progress.

Funny. That's the same problem in California....

I just don't know how anybody that escapes California would want to make Colorado just like California, when they hate California.

It's kinda like someone who just got out of prison, buying a house, and then installing a prison cell door for his bedroom.

It doesn't make sense

From what I can gather, I don't think they are "escaping" Cali, they are just spreading their ideology elsewhere. See Pennsylvania, where I live has had a similar issue lately. Most of the population lives in the cities (Pittsburgh, Philly, Harrisburg, etc.) but majority of the firearm owners and CCW Permit holders live in the central, northern, and southern parts of the state. Because of bordering, Maryland, New York, and New Jersey, special interest groups are constantly trying to make PA more like those states as far as gun laws. It also doesn't help that we are quickly becoming a "retirement state" either, and all of the younger people coming to our state are from areas with tighter firearm laws are trying to pass similar laws here.

Is this what happens with mass migrations from California?
Yes it is. We have one state legislator from california, who was giving her anti-gun speech while at the same time her son was running thru the city with a hand gun in his hand. Another who has joined the anti-gun rights democrats has decided to make a political career off of his son being killed in a shooting. Colorado is in serious trouble.
