Cool weather options

Im not convinced on the clothing thing for rounds.
If 9mm and above can go thru a car door and couple layers of drywall, then a down coat or “fluffy” winter clothing isnt going to stop much .

Slow it down a smidge. Physics says yes, but bullet proof vests are not made of clothing and jackets
Yeah, I’ve never got that whole “change caliber for winter thing”.

Most 9mm defensive ammo will go through 8-10 sheets of drywall…yet a puffy jacket will stop it?

I remember shooting water jugs that a put a “Northwoods Tuxedo” on: a Carhartt-style insulated duck cotton jacket, a heavy hooded sweatshirt, a flannel shirt, and a t-shirt—in front of water jugs. Most premium JHP’s still expanded and penetrated deep. Sure, there was a little clogging, and expansion wasn’t always perfect…but everything from .38 special to 9mm to .357 mag to .40 to .44 mag to .45acp all worked acceptably.

Why in the hell would you waste a good Carhart like that?

Probably depends on what you're carrying and how. I have a few Shields and they work well IWB in a CB MiniTuck. I wouldn't carry them that way under a coat though. The only way I'd carry IWB under a coat is AIWB. It also depends on how similar your full size is to your compact and whether or not you train with it.
When bulky clothes are involved the Shield is usually in an outside the belt holster in the same position as normal. Motions and grip remain the same.

Same EDC gun year round.

Started carrying daily in 2002 with a Taurus PT745 mp. Then night a Ruger P346. Bought a Sig Sauer C3 in 2009, carried it up until December 2022. After open heart surgery I swapped to a Sig Sauer P365xl for the lighter weight.

Here in S. Utah, very low crime rate. I carry my Smith wheelgun Bodyguard in a send in holster in my jackets. Won’t jam and if necessary. I keep my hand in my pocket and can fire through the coat material. Not something I would want to do, but nice to keep my hand on the gun but while an AH is yelling at me.
