Yeah, I’ve never got that whole “change caliber for winter thing”.Im not convinced on the clothing thing for rounds.
If 9mm and above can go thru a car door and couple layers of drywall, then a down coat or “fluffy” winter clothing isnt going to stop much .
Slow it down a smidge. Physics says yes, but bullet proof vests are not made of clothing and jackets
Most 9mm defensive ammo will go through 8-10 sheets of drywall…yet a puffy jacket will stop it?
I remember shooting water jugs that a put a “Northwoods Tuxedo” on: a Carhartt-style insulated duck cotton jacket, a heavy hooded sweatshirt, a flannel shirt, and a t-shirt—in front of water jugs. Most premium JHP’s still expanded and penetrated deep. Sure, there was a little clogging, and expansion wasn’t always perfect…but everything from .38 special to 9mm to .357 mag to .40 to .44 mag to .45acp all worked acceptably.
