Now I always have had a soft spot for this as the coolest gun around.

Or maybe this if we need to talk semi autos.

I have had a SCAR 17 for eleven years now, and it is probably my favorite rifle. It is definitely my favorite semiauto .308.

I've had all the usual suspects of .308 semiautos, and it shoots as well or better than any. It seems like new owners replace the trigger with a Giessle right away, but I have no problem with the factory trigger. Its about like a slightly above average AR trigger. Recoil is less than any other I've had. Function has been flawless, even with some mild cast bullet loads.

And it's light. Relatively light, for a .308 semi. When I got it, every ad or article listed a different weight, so I weighed it to see for myself. I got 7 lbs, 10 oz. For comparison, I weighed my old Colt SP-1 20" AR at the same time and got 7 lbs, 2 oz. I still consider the old ARs to be light rifles, and here the SCAR 17 was only eight ounces more? Wow.

Yes, they cost a bundle, but they come with a lot of extras that aren't extra. The iron sights are very good and I feel would have gotten a lot of praise had the gun come out just a little earlier before optics became a given. All controls are ambidextrous except the bolt stop/release. The stock is adjustable for length and comb height and folds. I know Picatinny rails are out of style now, replaced by M-Lok, but it has a full length top rail and shorter rails at the cardinal compass points. People might complain that the sling attach points aren't QD cups, but there are several of them. Most of this costs extra on other rifles, and it does add up.

And again, it's just a little over 7.5 lbs and shoots great. Those two points are worth more than a few dollars each. My Steyr AUG weighs more.

They've gone up several hundred dollars since I got mine. Are they still worth it? I don't know. I doubt I would have bought one at current prices, but I would have missed out.

This does everything my old Scar did and for way less money …
Saint Victor .308
Approaching so many hogs down now, I lost track over 500

I have never used a bullpup. I really like the looks of the Tavor. Are mag changes difficult? They seem like they could be
They're not difficult just different. I do like the bolt release where it's at, it gets to be part of the mag change motion. I will admit that having spent so much time with the AR platform it does take a little getting used to. While being heavier it is balanced so that if need be you can use your off hand to open doors, etc. and still be in a firing position for any potential short distance problems that might present themselves. I like the X95, I plan on keeping it.

You penned the best review of a rifle that I've read I a very LONG time.
