Dr Chris Raynor on shotgun lethality

Good video. I recommend searching for Dr. Marvin Fackler who was the wound ballistics guru of years past. (I've got a few of his pubs around here somewhere.) He was to go to guy for controversial court cases and forensics. There are only two things that count in wounding: temporary tissue stretch and permanent tissue cavitation. The video does a good job of analyzing these factors. Fackler's work is interesting because he busts some myths about ammo calibers and types and does comparisons of of the different rounds. If I can find them I'll post.

I was in a class with Chuck Haggard recently and he mentioned Fackler's work. I need to track it down.

I have a retired narc friend carries .22 Magnum revolver, S&W

I will admit that #4 buck is adequate for close quarters and appropriate for house guns, though I have exactly zero of my shotguns loaded with it. I use it mostly for training since it is ( or used to be) cheaper than 00B. I have some #1 and have shot quite a bit of it and it seems to me that if we could get a Flite Control version of it we'd be on to something. That aside, meh.

I have only recently become acquainted with Brennekke slugs really. So far I am still digging the Federal mostly, though I would very much like to get my hands on some of the more "Exotic" Brennekke loads or some of the stuff Officer Greg and Taufledermaus review.

But, you're an expert shotgunner compared to me. ;)

Being a rifle guy I move in that direction beyond 50, which 0-50 is my personal CQB distance.
That's your opinion brother. I never claimed to be an expert at anything other than goofing off. Well, and exterior remodeling. I'll put my work against anyone's there and I spent a good 15 years being the most expensive guy in St. Louis at it.

Back on point, I would really only choose buck inside about 30 yards. Past that I'm going to be trying to cram some slugs in the mag.
