Electric or Gas for a Car

the heck with EVs, the way things are going in the world today we may all have to op for a family car like this in the near future.

BTW, I’m sure I’ve made this clear in the past but, in my opinion, if you don’t have a gas powered car with a manual transmission (I believe you Yanks call them stick shifts) you’re just riding, not driving.

Come at me bro…
i did my time with"sticks", both in my pick up trucks, cars, and 18 wheelers....

at my age, i put it into "drive", set the cruise, and nap till i get there.

Terradyne Gurkha LAPV—Ford F-550 Super Duty

Built on the Ford F-550 chassis, the Terradyne Gurkha LAPV (Light Armored Patrol Vehicle) more closely resembles a military humvee than a luxury armored vehicle. Featured in the fifth installment of the Fast and Furious film series, the Terradyne Gurkha was Luke Hobbs' (played by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) truck of choice, and all Forza fans have had a chance to drive a digital one. Powered by a 6.7-liter turbodiesel V-8 mated to a six-speed automatic, the Gurkha LAPV can seat up to 12 passengers and has an armoring level of B7/Stanag 2. As expected for a tactical vehicle of this size, fuel mileage isn't great, but the Gurkha's 40-gallon fuel tank should help it go the extra mile when the chips are down. If the Gurkha's immense appearance was not a dead giveaway, it's heavy: Curb weight is a soul-crushing 16,000 pounds.

I admittedly haven't got all the details, but a co-worker with a Tesla had a flat tire, and the care was parked for an entire week before it could be repaired. All I know is those closer to the situation said, "because it's a Tesla....there are issues." Definitely not for me....had 3 flats in the last 15 months with my (now replaced with a Silverado) F-150 (replaced for other reasons).

No thanks

I love my Tesla and as soon as my Honda HR-V gets to EOL, there’s a Model Y waiting in the wings.

There’s going to be a time when plug in all electric vehicles will be the way to go however for now I see non plug Hybrids with adequate sized gas engines that charge on board batteries the best current option. That being said…….
I’ll stick with my gas powered truck because there is no way an all electric powered vehicle can tow 12,000 pounds.
In regards to “plug in” all electric vehicles the current electric grid is no way ready to go all electric, even California; who wants to go all electric is saying their electric grid is already struggling and don’t try and tell me that electric vehicles are “green” as coal powered electric plants produce an outrageous amount of pollutants.

For most of us, hydrogen power is not practical. I have read that California does have some hydrogen refueling stations mostly installed at existing gas stations but none in my neck of the woods. A family member has a Prius that they have had for 10 years or so. They really like it. They recently bought a Chevy Bolt, but about all it is good for is running around town. They have to charge it outside because several of them have caught fire charging in someone’s garage.

If they'd put a 7.3L Powerstroke and a manual 6 speed in it, I'd buy it.
