First Look: Springfield Armory Optics-Ready 1911 AOS Pistols

Well, optics are nice for some, but me personally can’t see having one on a self defense or CCW gun and having to depend on a battery, my Hellcat and XDm Elite Compact came with red dots, there still in the box…just not my thing, but those who like and want them, these are great options
Well, I am with you on not using them on my carry gun but do have optics on other pistols used for steel and other sporting games with the fellas.

I will watch these a while before buying. Have had two different AOS plates that refuse to stay tight plate to slide.

Prodigy model PH9119AOS
Production date per SA May 2024
Purchase date July 10 2024

One original non optic plate and one a14b. It acts as if the screws are too small or the holes in slide are too big. Screws spin in hole around 15ish in-lb. The outer most tip of thread on screw is shiney. Manual calls for 25 in-lb plate to slide. Original install was factory, a14b was with new screws sent by SA at no charge. SA warranty has it now. Waiting for answers now.

Plenty of voices on various sites have their theories, but I will wait to here from the horses mouth. I will post outcome later.

Well, I got the Prodigy back from warranty. Job sheet/invoice said they replaced slide, (my guess is screw holes were out of spec). They did perfectly fit my existing bull barrel to the new slide. They also mounted my optics plate, adjusted ambi thumb safety and function tested weapon.
I have to say I am very pleased. I mounted my SRO and so far with 400 rounds nothing has come loose. I previously had plate start to rattle at around 100 or so rounds.
The price for shipping, service and return shipping was ZERO dollars. The quoted lead time was 4 to 6 weeks, it was right at six weeks. As are many of us, I was tempted to try repair myself to not be bothered with sending to SA. Part of why we pay for a quality weapon is for that warranty and it is well worth the price in my opinion. I LOVE this gun.

Well dang it, I am really really trying to keep loving this gun. It is such a smooth shooter and makes me look great at the range with accuracy. Not a single malfunction in over 1000 rounds as far as ftf or fte. BUT, here we go again. Around 550 rounds after receiving back from SA the plate is loose again. I contacted SA and explained, and rather than sending back for another six weeks they are sending a new AOS plate and screw set at no charge (the plate is the only thing they did not replace while they had it in house). I will follow correct protocol when installing new plate and see what happens. Am I being unreasonable expecting not to remove, clean and reinstall plate and dot every 500 shots? Updates to follow. SA seems as embarrassed as i am frustrated and have been very accommodating. Thanks for letting me vent friends.
