First time Shooting after almost 10 years

Welcome from MN, and from the guy that’s contributed greatly to the HK infection on this board.

Gratuitous Heckler & Koch SP89 pic, just because.

Hi,

Which is it?

And how does a "new shooter" do that on their first time out or their first time in decades even touching a firearm?

Again, something in the milk is not clean

I can empathize with Ms. Jen. We had guns in the house when I was a kid, hunting, skeet shooting, etc. I moved out at 18, got busy with life, and had other priorities. A few decades later, I got back into target sports and self defense. After five years of regular training and practice, I still consider myself a new shooter.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Where is it in her post about the distance/range she shot at? Maybe for someone shooting brand new, the target is at a closer range to start at. And where are all the links in the stories you like to post?

The thought of dirty milk??? Is unsettling lol

And better believe it :) tbh I don’t really know how I did it either. Like I said in the original, I legit had tears rolling down my face the first couple rounds. I had to step out of the lane twice and legit shake out the jitters because I was about to full on panic.

But I got through it!! :) tbh I think it’s more of a testament to a great beginner friendly pistol than it is to any level of skill I had at the time. Now my goal is to make sure it wasn’t a fluke and keep going

To appease the curious, the target in my photo was at 15 yards for a while then moved back.

It was shot at that distance because that’s where the rest of the lanes had their targets as well and (as I said before) I was nervous and didn’t have the hairy lady balls that some of you have and just wanted to focus on calming myself down.

In the future, I will endeavor to post more targets with more tangible evidence than a happy little selfie.

For the record, THIS was my first shot. I circled it in black. And yes that is the same exact target from the original post :)

Happy little selfies are more than adequate. ;)

Update on my shooting.....

@SimonRL and @KillerFord1977 , you don't have to shake in the boots any more lol

I definitely think the first day behind a gun after so long was partially a fluke, but mostly because I was a scared little baby and took my time. Today was a hot mess because I was spazzy the whole time and it shows on my targets and in the video I took explaining them.

I don't know if a link means the same in gun world as is does to normal people, but I assumed it was a link to a video of someone shooting their targets as proof??? Anyway, I don't believe my range allows filming like that, but I'll ask next time I go in and see if I can film myself or at least reserve a slow time to where I or someone else can film smaller video clips and we can just have a fun time.

Here's the link to today's video.

Ps. The oven clock is wrong in the video because I'm lazy and don't feel like fixing it. Also, correction on the amount of rounds I thought I had. I had two boxes of 50 rounds, but one of them had 20 ish left in the box. IDK. I need keep better track of how much I use.

Now don't you worry none about them two, they may be from another world. those one ragged hole targets they produce may be from weapons this planet is not capable of knowing exist. Like a lazer guided bullet or something.

Then they throw those old world guns on the table to take a pic, which is understandable. they just don't want us to spazz out. and knowing humans, a lot of em would.

Good shooting from the video and just remember to always have a good time even if things don't go well, and you will have those days if you shoot enough. unless you have those alien guns that they have. then you can never miss.

Good shooting. Based on what you went over in your video, even though you haven’t shot in 10 years you are definitely not a beginner.
Please don’t hate me

You know what’s really funny about the whole thing is that yesterday’s range day was the third time I’ve ever shot in my life.

The first time I ever held a gun and shot it was when I was 20, young, and dumb. My dad took me out to the local range. And let me tell you. I hit ONLY the ground. Only one round hit the target (at 5 yards away) and then I gave up and tried my dad’s AR15 and did much better.

After that day, I never picked up a gun until just the other day when I first joined this forum of awesome people. That was the second time I ever shot a gun. And yesterday was the third time.

To be honest, I don’t really know how I’m doing or what I’m doing.

Without going into a trauma dump, I think most of it is happening because of the amount of times I’ve dreamt about having to defend myself from someone. Like maybe my brain was getting more practice than my hands?? Idk 🤷🏻‍♀️

It could also be that my dad kept making fun of me for 10 years about hitting nothing but dirt lol. All I know is that I’m seeing other people’s targets and know that I need to get better and I can get there because THEY got there lol

Either way, I’m having fun :)
