Good Guns Made Better

What are some current production guns out there you like but feel they can be made better with any possible upgrades from the factory?

Examples of upgrades could be but not limited to,

The grip, trigger, ambidextrous controls, magazine, slide serrations, sights, caliber options, color options, etc etc etc.....

Before I bought my first plastic fantastic I looked at S&W M&P, and again following forum members input they all said the triggers were crappy and they installed apex triggers.
I am not a brand snob, so my take is why should I put money into a sub par firearm to make it better when there are so many out there that work fine. I'm sure there are many of you out there that like to tinker with theirs so God bless you, I know my limitations.
I feel that all manufacturers have engineers with a lot of letters behind their names, that should make these improvements for me.
I sure don't want to void any warranty.

Glock-sights, m&p shield-trigger, HK-sights and 3rd magazine. Ruger needs to build their rifles better. They shipped one not long ago without an end plate and the whole buffer tube was rotated, no takedown pin or detent.

Manufacturers are trying to sell to a certain price point. They know that folks look at costs and economists have determined that beyond a certain price then folks question a purchase. So manufacturers go with more economic ways of production (not all bad) and basic other components beyond the key features that they put their development and manufacturing costs into. So that disappoints some folks.

But that allows the/an aftermarket to develop enhanced and high-end replacement components. Then we get to spend extra $$ on those upgrades in order to make good guns better. And that's half the fun of making our purchases better.

It's good old free enterprise and capitalism.

A lot of the triggers these days are because of CYA. I hate to say it but my XDs .45 had a crappy trigger . It was ok if you were just shooting for center mass but if trying to take a slow target type shot it was to heavy.

A spring kit and new sear and it is much improved.

Totally agree about the trigger! This seems like a simple thing most manufacturer's could get right the first time without an increase in cost.

Some improvements can be DIY. I have (and others) have improved trigger pulls with simple spring swaps. Manufacturers also have to keep lawsuits in mind.

Once we upgrade things ourselves they can say they're not liable if there's an accident.

Wow that really disappointing about the Ruger! How would you improve the above listed guns with what kind of products?

I've installed the Apex in my M&P full-size 9mm. Not a difficult process you just need to be aware of the small parts that can be easily misplaced.

It was sad. But for the pistols, night sights are not that expensive. Id rather pay slightly more for them to bd installed than have to buy them afterwards. Especially with Glocks. HK just pisses me off. Their prices and you get crap semi glow in the dark sights and two mags. It’s literally cheaping out. For the shield, the trigger was garbage. Apex has a trigger kit for 100 bucks that is light years ahrad of factory. Quality should come before budget.

I cannot see where these simple upgrades done in a factory would increase the cost of the gun.

Agreed. Thats what bothers me the most about lower priced guns. The Overall quality is rarely there. They pump out products as cheap as possible to keep prices low, and the products reflect it.

When breaking a gun down past field stripping I take pics of the gun as it comes apart in phases so I have a better chance of not screwing anything up putting it back together.

When I disassemble I put parts down in way that I know what goes back in in a certain order.

Plus I've found that tasks can be made a lot simpler with certain special tools.
