gov employees (congress etc) freaking over an audit

I've not seen where anyone's personal, private information has been involved in any way with DOGE. What I have seen is it having to do with spending public monies.
There's a lawsuit in front a federal judge right now alleging DOGE accessed citizens' names, addresses, SSNs, and bank account numbers.

But you didn't say that originally, you basically just said anyone can pound sand about anything, "no matter how mundane".
I responded to "people with nothing to hide, hide nothing" by saying I don't care how mundane a thing you're looking for, I'm not giving it up without something telling me I have to. I'd do that in all matters.

That's an 'allegation' Ben, not evidence. I'm going to accept for now these folks are smart enough to know the rules and are applying them correctly. If any are not, they will be identified. It's so hard to understand anyone being against trimming gov't and protecting the public's money. With all due respect, you do understand the gov't has no money other than that it takes from the public don't you? Damn, gotta go for now.

The left forgets that they work for us, we don't work for them.

The government expects...no demands...that Americans pay taxes. We have every right to expect the money goes towards policies that benefit Americans not third world countries that hate America and support leftist agendas.

Yes, its an allegation. But thus far I haven't seen a single thing that prevents such searches from happening or anything vetting the people involved. If Elon and DOGE are vetted and there are guardrails and oversight, then fine, do the audit, write the report, bring problems to light. If those conditions are not met, I object.

I hope the appointment goes well. We can debate later.

Now (activist?) judges are 'pausing' President Trump's efforts to end waste of tax dollars. Maybe we should just do away with the Executive and Legislative branches.
Brazilian Supreme Court Judge Alexandre de Moraes set the example of a judge that runs the country.

Also, ban them from buying stocks. They regulate all sorts of industry. It's basically insider trading.
And investment properties.

Feinstein's husband just happened to randomly buy millions of dollars for land out in the middle of nowhere.

Amazingly, later, when the plans were revealed, it just happened to be land where their high-speed rail scheme ended up being routed through.

They're 'doing it for the people', as long as they're 'the people'. Doing it TO all the other people.

During my career in my former agency there several RIFs and/or major reorgs.

Everyone took it on the chin vs. these crybaby's nowadays.

I was shocked when I found out my former agency was in the hole $1 billion, which is mind-boggling but the former admin pushed a lot of crap on to it, and the changes in leadership (started with Bush 2 & Obama) after I left have turned it into a shell of what it used to be.

When ever budgets were tight 3/4s the way into the FY we always adjusted on the fly by the end of the FY.

I won't argue with that. My position is we, the people, have a lot more in common than we all think. It's in all our interests to step out of our bubbles, question what we hear and read from DNC and RNC, and assert ourselves. RNC went nuts, DNC went corporate, neither are stepping up for the working or middle classes right now.

Just remember, what is being looked at is PUBLIC funding. As a taxpayer you (and me and every other taxpayer) has a Right to know where OUR $$$ are being spent. Unless it’s a national security or defense issue every single nickel should be accounted for. (Defense and security secrets obviously not, but everything else? Absolutely. Ask yourself one question. When was the last time you saw a poor or middle class politician? Never huh? Me too. These clowns spend millions for a two year job (house) or six yr (senate) that pays $174k/yr and ALL leave as multi millionaires. Do the math. The money comes from selling influence, insider trading, and stealing. There are no other options.

I don't generally disagree with your point. My entire objection in this thread has been protecting data and secrecy of sensitive information. I don't object to an audit. That's fine. But I don't want my information compromised and I see great potential for that to happen. Get legal approval and authority, establish guardrails and oversight, and go with god. Being the president's buddy or having an office in the White House is nowhere near enough for me. When I was a city attorney I'd have shut the door on someone wanting to look through the books based on nonsense like that, and that's just witness information and medical information. It's much more serious at the federal level.

The Donkey Party has spent decades since the 60's setting up a rack to subsidize NGOs, from top to bottom, the Media and Academics to push their "Long March" agenda with tax-payers money.

When the Party needs rioters/protesters and TV coverage they just place an order for what "clown-show" they want, whether its burning down cities, "fuzzing up" their useful idiots to scream in the streets, and/or crying on TV according to the script-of-the day.

The clown-show the other day with Guacamole Chucky Schumer and the other corrupt politicians on stage is SOP.

The Mafia is jealous.

Cutting the legs off that rack is needed to get govt agencies back to what they actually need to be doing for the country.
