Has anybody…….

at my LGS, the price of 45 ACP, is just under $30.....

have you tried say the local bait and tackle stores that might also sell guns and ammo?

my local bait/tackle store they make reloaded ammo, and also sell new.

how about "survival stores"?

one that i go to "may be" up to $5.00 more than the larger gun store i frequent.

i still sometimes pay the slightly higher pricing, only so that keeps me as a regular customer and if i need something, the gal there knows me and puts it on order, with out any sort of deposit.

i got that from my late dad. he'd go to like 5 different places to shop, even if just for a loaf of bread. he'd say that way, they get to know him, and one day, if he needed something, he wasn't a stranger.
Unfortunately WalMart for rifle ammo, Sportsmans Warehouse or an LGS. And gun shops here tend to be more expensive that Sportsmans. There is one shop that I don't get to often, that might have a slightly better price.

Midway has Speer Lawman 45 ACP for just over $24 /50

Norma Shooting DOT com has 45 ACP for $27.99 (free shipping at $150)
AmmoShopOnline DOT Com has Norma 45ACP on sale for $25.99 / 50 (free shipping at $150)
I have not made a purchase from them, but it looks like they may be the RUAG Ammotec (GECO, Norma, RWS, Rottweil brands) importer. The terms say it owned by RUAG Ammotec.

AbleAmmo in Texas has S&B 45 ACP for $23.49 /50 (I have done business with them before)
I will look into this. I haven't ordered ammo online due to shipping costs

it's not only shipping costs, but whether or not some companies will even ship to your state, and you will fins that out, when you go to finalize the order.

i have had great luck with whomever i bought from in the past.

however, as it is now, i am trying to buy locally.

It’s $100. And you get an 8% discount and email alerts BEFORE stuff hits the website.

Friends don’t let friends buy ammo or sporting goods from Walmart. No matter the price. Walmart and Dicks and Cheaper Than Dirt can all take a flying F at a rolling donut.

if i recall, Dicks Sporting Goods, no longer sells anything gun related. at least not here in New England.

i went to 3 of them in my area about 2 years ago, the CEO ordered all gun related stuff out, and expanded the camping area.

in fact, as i also recall?? there is NO archery stuff either.

Yep. And WalMart, after one of the shootings, made a big deal about pulling all the handgun and AR ammo off their shelves. The two nearest to me don't even bother selling any ammo. And Cheaper Than Dirt is anything but. Especially during a "Gun scare".

I have not necessarily seen ammo prices going up, but I find it odd that prices at my local big box stores are not going down. I can buy individual 50 round boxes of 9mm, with shipping and taxes included, from numerous online stores for $16-$17 each, or $15 if I buy in 1000 round allotments (20 or more boxes). For years, my local Academy has stayed within $1 per box of the best deals I could find online. Academy raised the price for 9mm to $20-$23 per box during the COVID rush, but has never lowered prices.

I could understand the high prices if ammo was flying off the shelves. However, even with the removal of box limits, I rarely see anyone buying handgun or AR/AK ammo at all. I have seen a few shoppers grab a bulk box of .22 LR, or one box of specific hunting rounds, but the common defensive calibers appear to just be gathering dust. I can understand that a $2-$3 upcharge per box doesn't mean much to hunters who buy one box of .270 WIN or .308 WIN each deer season, but I can't imagine any high-volume shooters paying Academy's prices for FMJ target rounds.

Again, hard to find ammo here. The only LGS in town still wants $39 for a box for 9mm. I have said that's too high but it doesn't seem to bother him. He just don't care and is comfortable screwing over his customers. This is why I order ammo online. I'm not going to drive at least 80 miles away to "maybe" find some cheaper ammo.

Natchez has a 3 day sale going on right now. Spend $200 on select ammo and get free shipping. They have Blazer Brass 124 gr. for $329 case. $16.45 and free shipping? Not horrible I suppose. They have some 115 on the list too for 15 something a box.
