I have the right ear ringing also , Mine's from Shooting of course , But Also Music . And i really don't think it helped being on a Battle Ship In the Navy . Like I said shooting the 16 in guns. LOL ..Just catches up with you ...

Oh Sorry , I use Plugs for protection But I also have the Walkers Razor head set . Great set but kinda bulky shooting .
Thanks for your service.

I'm not sure , been some time . I ret'ed in '91 , last tour was the Navy War College in Newport RI.
I was on the Iowa when we had the turret explosion in '89 . I lost 47 shipmates that day .
Thank you for your service ScottJ.
The turret explosion was a terrible loss of life. Thanks for your service also. Did my first sea duty in Newport, '72-'73. The winter there was way too cold.

My father (parents) are no longer living but I believe he watches me and hears all I talk about. I want to say he was on the Iowa during the early 50’s
Here are some things I’ve hung onto.
Nice Keystone. I've done the same with some of my Dads WWII items (Dog Tags, Wings, Ribbons, patches, pictures) and put them into a display case. I even put the U.S. Flag that draped his coffin into a display case. This and adding his name to the WWII Museum in New Orleans entry wall and an inscribed brick placed in the sidewalk that lines the several Museum buildings. It's great we can honor our veterans when given the chance.

Nice Bet7. Both my parents were cremated and I have both their ashes with me. My father was a
2nd class ship fitter, the only thing he talked about during his time on the Iowa was running all over the ship welding patches over the holes from being shot at. Other then that he refused to talk about his time in the Navy.

Yeah, my Father and Uncles were the same about their time in WWII as well.

An interesting note that some of the components including all of the barrels for the 16 inch guns For all the battle ships were made at the Naval Ordinance plant in Louisville Kentucky which is now known as
BAE Systems. I worked for BAE for four years as the 2nd shift Facilities manager. During that time we continued to make the Mark45 and Mark38 guns. We also built propulsion cavitation components and missile tubes for the Virginia Class submarine.
