Holster recommendations for AIWB

So is anyone using wedges or pillows/pads ? I don't probably need one for concealing/printing purposes, but those Mastermind Tactics pillows look like they might help with the holster digging into my groin.
Yes, I use the one designed by Black Arch Holsters and it allows me to cant the muzzle end of the holster away from my body for concealment and does cushion the contact between the holster and groin. I like this wedge setup because it has a Velcro backing and allows the user to try different positions on the holster. Tier 1 Concealed and Phlster offer wedges as well. The option below may also be worth exploring.

Yeah I have looked at all those. The Black Arch looks like one of the more comfortable pad types. That adjustable pillow thing looks pretty good too.

I've never tried the gel cushions, though they look like they'd be nice. I've experimented with foam wedges years ago, and they usually ended up giving me hot spots. I also found that with smaller pistols, it really wasn't necessary. I've gotten away from carrying AIWB unless I'm carrying something pretty small, like a J-frame.

AIWB or pocket carry for me. For me, the cant mainly affects the amount my wrist has to bend. A slight positive or negative cant doesn’t seem to have too much effect on speed, but no cant works better for me. I still recommend Crossbreed Reckoning because it has two belt clips and because the leather backer doesn’t dig into your belly like Kydex when you sit down.
No offense to anyone who has a Reckoning, but it was uncomfortable for me AIWB. I believe it is more suited for hip carry.

I am currently running the Xyphos Elite from T1C and it does not have a sidecar attachment. Very comfortable for AIWB.
The MRT does everything I want it to and it's not particularly uncomfortable, though it does feel like it could be more comfortable with something keeping the bottom of it from poking me. I think I'm just not used to something being down the front of my pants.

An inch left/right on the beltline can make a big difference. Ride height too. You will learn to adjust the holster before bending over or seating to keep from getting jabbed.

I use the wedges, and they do help with printing and overall comfort. The wedge makes the holster thicker at the bottom, forcing the top (and especially the grip) back into your body. For me, it seems to be most effective at the 1 o'clock position.

1:00 is definitely the most comfortable.

I carry it AIWB. My only complaint is the leather could extend a little more on the bottom so it could develop a curl sort of around the end of the muzzle. It isn’t a big deal, but for me a fuzz more leather would make it better.

I've had several, the Crossbreed Reckoning is my preferred. Not only does have strong metal clips, it also has a way to adjust tension on the trigger guard. I buy all my Crossbreeds in the horse hide. Just love that leather.
I've had several kydex AIWB rigs over the years. Two things that kept me going back to the Reckoning was the single plastic clips and some brands are just loose. After my pistol "bounced" out running up stairs one day I was done. There's nothing like that feeling watching your pistol bouncing and tumbling down 15 hard steel stairs expecting to hear a god awful loud noise in a stairwell.
The Reckoning form well and are very comfortable.
My second best is no longer made. It was buy a company called Comfort Holsters. Theirs was kydex, they industrial glued a thick suede leather on the back of the holster. In the middle under the suede was a very soft silicone like substance, both the suede and silicone like stuff made it just disappear against you skin or under shirt. Clinger bought them out and just threw out all Comforts designs. Pretty stupid move if you ask me.

I really like the MRT. It's well built, simple and I can wear it under a fairly tight t-shirt and not print. It's not over uncomfortable. I'm sure it's no more uncomfortable than any other holster shoved down the front of your pants.

My Christmas gift to you is that I’m going to let this go. But just be aware that somewhere in the not too distant future a burn is coming that is going to be twice as sharp. 😇😇😇
I expect no less from you. I kinda figured you'd have something to say. I left myself open for it. :ROFLMAO:

It reminds me of a little story. Back when I was working out of a yard up in the city there was a couple friends of mine that lived out by me who worked there too. We had this magnet made up that looked like a bumper sticker. It said " I Love Gay Porn" and it made it's way on to several people's bumpers over the course of a month or so. One Sunday I was in my driveway and I looked down and noticed it on my bumper. I immediately called the likely culprit. My **** Iraq combat vet psycho homey Steve. He assured me it wasn't him so I knew it had to be another buddy of mine Brian. So Brian lives down the road from my favorite LGS and on the Friday prior I went there to buy a gun on my way home from work ( VP9 I think). So Brian sees my truck there on his way home and he stops and slaps the magnet on my bumper, right on the parking lot of the gun store. He was very worried I was going to pay him back and I am known to pay people back in a "Nuclear" fashion. The fact is though it was such an epic burn, brilliantly executed. I admired it so much I couldn't bring myself to make him pay. :cautious:;):D

I have only carried AIWB, and I get you. It seems to be the only way I feel like I'm not printing and the whole wide world knows that I have a pistol in my pants. Summer months are hard, but I have been experimenting with wedges and they are okay. Winter is here and I still carry in my pants, but I get bolder with the 4 barrels. MRT made the holsters I use most often. It's just a matter of getting used to that other appendage. I don't seem to mind it much any more and I have actually gotten bolder and ordered a OWB for under my flannels. We'll see how that goes...

Did you order a MRT OWB holster ? Because those are what I use. I carry a P30L and a VP9 in them, under flannels with no problem. In fact today I was carrying the VP9SK in one with the 12 rd. mag and it didn't print even a little bit even with the flannel buttoned up.

Yep. Good to know. I am excited to get that VP9. It's the same size as my M&P9 and I can carry that, so next week will be fun!

The best priced ($12.44 for 4 wedges + $4.44 shipping) and best performing wedges I have found were from Tacticon. I highly recommend them. They don't show up on their website. I just called ((916) 538-6205) and ordered them over the phone. Took about 4 days to arrive.
