Hotel Chains for Gun Owners

Well to be fair it’s not really nitpicking. I never claimed Jackson wasn’t bad. But claiming it’s worse than St. Louis is like saying Taylor Swift rocks harder than AC/DC.

Is the bag waterproof? I like going in the water with my wife, so bringing our gun's in a bag to the beach doesnt work for us. The place we're staying doesn't have maid service. We are on the 9th floor in a gated building overlooking the "Gulf of America" so not worried about a break in. I'm comfortable in a hotel leaving my gun if necessary in a safe and a do not disturb sign on the door.

Enjoy the Keys!

Some people just don't understand that sometimes when you travel you have to take calculated risk.

Here is an example, say you are visiting St. Louis and you take a handgun with you.

Because you are there on business you have no choice but to enter buildings that don't allow handguns, even with enhanced carry.

Therefore you have to make a decision of what to do with that gun.

Do you violate federal law and your employment and take the gun in the building?

Do you leave it in the vehicle, especially in a city that is as bad as Bassbob says?

Or do you leave it in a safe at the hotel?

Sometimes you do what you believe to be the least risk given the circumstances at that moment. Other than the first choice, Monday morning QB'ing someone's decision of what to do with that gun is obtuse at best.

Once upon a time several of us took turns going up in the St. Louis Arch. Some of us held the guns and knives, etc for the ones going up and when they were back, they held our stuff while we went up. STL has been rough and it is getting rougher all the time. Even the Chase Park and the Hill areas are having street crime issues.

That's a great solution that worked for you at that time and in that situation.

That solution may or may not work for other circumstances where people have to visit.

For example if you were traveling alone, or if all of the people present were required to be in the place at the same time.

Like I said in the previous post, every decision you make is a risk, you made a risk (small or large) by leaving your weapon with someone else for even a short period of time in a city like St. Louis.

Thinking what works for one person in a given situation should work for everyone in every situation is somewhat myopic.

And I'm not saying you (are being myopic), I'm just speaking in general terms.

As bad as I say it is ? Don't look now, but it's not just me that says it.

Tell ya what old top. Since you insist on carrying on, next time you're in STL drop me a PM and I'll take you to some neighborhoods on the north side that I promise you will make you forget all about Jackson. I get that people like to talk about what they know. And you know Jackson. You sure AF don't know St. Louis. I mean you visited. Probably downtown.

And to answer your question, in ANY city you don't leave it in the car. You calculate all the risks you want my friend, I figure my shite out before I go. I don't like to take unnecessary risks.

You go ahead and trust a hotel safe, it makes no difference to me. Funny thing about internet forums. Peole have differing opinions. And they share them. It's kind of the point. If it upsets you when someone has an opinion that don't jive with yours maybe internet forums ain't for you. ;)

My best friend is federal park security at the arch. You should hear some of his stories about what people try to bring with them into the arch. It isn't so much that they apparently can't read all the signs that tell you not to bring guns or weed or pepper spray in, it's that a lot of them argue about it once they can't clear security. They are given the option to take it to their car, throw it in the trash can or leave. They argue now they get a $300 ticket and in the case of a firearm they get it taken away and can petition the judge at their court date to get it back. People are stupid.
