I blame y'all.

Viktos is definitely on the same boat in my opinion... I am with you on quality vs. quantity, and I share your hatred of Walmart, but at the same time do I want to wear the same pants for 10 years? The way I use/abuse mine, 10 years would be more than patina, it'll be hobo-level dereliction

I do get $20-$25 jeans (Wrangler) on Amazon and cargo type pants at Tractor Supply Co, last one was a score $9 (nothing wrong with them, they needed to get rid of their stock)!

$60 on Amazon isn't bad actually for the 5.11 pants, I agree.
Well, supposedly they are coated with some Teflon substance that resists water and staining. As you can imagine most of the thousands of reviews are from LEO, so I assume they aren't going around in pants that make them look like hobos.
I'm pretty rough on clothes so I will know how these hold up soon enough. Personally, unlike Old Me, I don't think $60 is a bad price for a quality pair of pants that has features that Dickies don't. Also I will trash a pair of Dickies work pants in 6 months or less I guarantee. I've seen me do it.

I wear my "worn" ones that are no longer suitable for Sunday go to meeting out here on the farm and in the shop. I have found them to be more durable than Dickies or Duluth Firehose britches which seem to get holes in them rather quickly.

Which ones do you wear, Apex ?

I have to say I am impressed with the Taclite Pro so far. I have them on now and I am headed to the range in a few.

And Amazon to the rescue @Old_Me: $13! They probably would last about 8 minutes before ripping

Around here, the only way our PD could rip their pants is being caught in thorny bushes, it's a very quiet area and most of their activities involves not much more than pulling over DUI/DWI. Reading the activity logs, it amazes me how these petty criminals accumulate bonehead moves, it's as if they want to be caught! The pattern is suspended license/no insurance/15mph over speed limit/DWI, 90% of the time!!!! How f'g stupid can you be?!?!?! I also let anyone guess what state the majority of these fine individuals come from

Now that I think of it, I still have a couple of winter socks issued for Desert Storm (don't ask, bureaucracies don't run the world with brain power!) and they are still "as-new" and mighty fine for the NH winters...

I still have a couple pair of 5.11 cargo pants I was issued in 2009 while working security up north. I wear them doing outdoor work, and they are good in the winter at the range (the pockets rock). They have lasted this long and they still fit, so why wreck my jeans? I can get 5.11s at Urban Tactical in Winnipeg (when they have my size).

I have had the same two pairs of 5.11 pants that I wear for duty, for 3 1/2 years. I wear them almost 5 days a week. ( I finally picked up a pair by LA Police Gear, too.) They weren't cheap. Thankfully my wife got them on Ebay for a better price, but still a lot more than I would normally pay for pants. But well worth the money. I expect I'll get several more years out of them
