In a World of Compacts, Is it Bad my EDC is a Full Size?

So I feel myself a bit out of place sometimes because my EDC is a Springfield 1911 Mil-Spec Defender, 5" Barrel. A lot of people said about getting the compact pistol, but I have no problem carrying this. I use a Cross leather suspender strap, and with it anchored to my belt, I don't feel the weight at all, and I'm not rubbing against it either. It feels comfortable, and I also have no problem reaching it fast (Been practicing a lot). So I ask everyone here, Should I get a Compact Pistol?

I think a lot of folks carry smaller framed short barreled handguns mainly because they are easier to conceal and don't weigh as much as say a 1911 Government model. To me any handgun with a barrel shorter than 4 inches is a compact maybe even a micro-compact with a barrel length around 3 inches or less. Just my opinion.

And I think that's perfectly fine, which ever a person feels comfortable carrying is what they should be carrying. I just talk to a lot of EDC individuals in my area, and all of them said the Compact/Micro is the best way to carry.

Some body types may need smaller guns in order to conceal well or be comfortable. As many have said here, "You do you." I don't do it often but I can carry my .45 1911 Garrison, cocked and locked with one in the pipe plus a 10 round extended magazine as a spare. Yes, training is essential. I normally carry one of my 4" 9mm models. I don't have anything shorter because I can't hit nothing with it. :ROFLMAO: All my pistols are 4", 4.5", 5", or 5.25" because these old eyes need the sight radius. So, whatever you do, just don't get old. ;)

Thank you for your indulgence,

I figure with a 5” barrel you will be more accurate and have a higher energy projectile so you shouldn’t need as many rounds as long as you can resist the urge to spray and pray. My EDC is a compact so I can better conceal it but I know I am giving up accuracy and energy. If you can conceal it, go for it. I would pack around a 12 ga. Pump if I could hide it!

I like the way think. If you got an extended mag with an ETM base pad you could do 8+1 and qualify as high capacity. I like 20 rds so that the bad guys see my extended mag and know that I am a gun ninja and not to be trifled with.
