Is the 1911 Too Heavy?

That may be the reason many of us old timers stick with blued steel and nice walnut grips. It’s just plain physics, the heavier the gun the less recoil is perceived. Great article!

The pretty blued Browning Hipower vs. the grainy Springfield SA-35
My only regret is the Springfield doesn't have that nice blue Browning finish. The SA has better: grips, sights, less thumb web bitee, no mag disconnect so better trigger, mag drops free, feed ramp (eats anything), actual safety, is at least as accurate ... but it is not blue.
Why, Springfield Armory? Why?
>Costs more, Nimrod. Want egg in your beer? heh

My 10mm SA Ronin has a similar muzzle flip/rise (with hotter defense rounds) to my P365 (also with hotter HST defense rounds). The recoil feels very similar to me. I know I'm comparing vast opposite ends of the spectrum, but the 1911 pop feels very close to a micro....to me. However, the physical weight of any 1911 is more than twice that of a micro, thus it precludes it from my carry rotation. That, and it won't fit in my pocket without people thinking I'm walking around with an armadillo in my trousers.
