The DC officer who was hurt in last night's melee at the capitol building, has just died. They said (at least I think it's what I heard) that he had made it back to his precinct last night while injured, but passed out while there after just a short time. Apparently he was transported at that time to a local hospital and died about 1/2 hr ago. RIP Mr. LEO!

I saw on the news that one officer had died. What a shame, and so sad. Since the feds are trying to locate and charge the individual who did this, I hope they also find and charge the officer who shot the unarmed air force veteran. No excuse for either of those deaths.

I have to wonder what the demonstrators hoped to accomplished. In the end all they did was delay the certification of the Electoral College ballots and in the process cause the death of five people. The far right is no better than the far left.

They accomplished nothing but strengthen the resolve for the incoming administration to take more rights to freedom away from law abiding citizens.
And from what I’ve heard on multiple news channels “those responsible” are vowing to not stop up to and including attacks during the inaugural proceedings.
This cluster F. Is nothing more then a black eye on this which what once was a wonderful country.

I still say the ones who did the damage were antifa. I also think it was an antifa goon who hit the police officer in the head. If you look at the pictures and videos , you see a lot of people with goggles and several with gas masks. This isn't normal attire for Trump supporters who are protesting but it is the attire of antifa.

With that said , I also think heard mentality took over for some of the legitimate protestors who went in after the fact. I say that because even though some gained access to some offices , such as Pelosi's , they didn't damage anything. I am not saying they shouldn't be charged but the ones who did the damage are the ones who should be hit hard with charges.

If I am correct in my thinking and it was antifa goons who caused the mayhem I just hope every bit of it was on video cameras. I also think the antifa goons accomplished their agenda.

Unfortunately, extremism is extremism and those people get all the attention and paint all of the rest of us - whichever said of the fence you’re on - with the same broad brush.

You want to believe that because you can’t get your head around the fact that people who think like you are capable of such actions.

I assure you, they are.

This was right-wing terrorism; insurrection, sedition, attempted coup...but this is firmly on the soon to be ex-President's supporters.

There is no proof that any of the people were antifa; several of the more famous pictures have been clearly identified as members of right-wing groups.

And if you are trying to excuse actions of many by “herd mentality”, I most certainly hope you do the same to the rioters this summer.

Maybe you should re read my second paragraph! As for all the rioting and looting that has taken place over the summer , I think every one of them should be behind bars.

I hope all that are arrested are charged with felony crimes so that if they are convicted they will not be allowed to possess firearms. For some like Richard Barnett that would be a greater punishment than the jail time they might serve.

Cool.

What they did falls under the sedition act, btw—and I think every last person that moved past a barricade deserves the 20 years that comes with it.

Flip side of that coin. How many rioters were charged and convicted of anything? People threw firebombs into police stations. Cops were killed, civilians were killed and federal buildings were attacked. How many of those looters went to jail? If you punish someone for forcing their way into the capital building and not causing any damage, but you give someone a pass for burning down a police station that’s a little inconsistent don’t you think? Not that I in any way support what these retards did, but if vandalizing and destroying private citizen’s property, firebombing police stations, hurling frozen water bottles at cops and looting entire neighborhoods in 30 plus cities is called protesting than so is this. Threat to our democracy? BS. That’s politicians once again showing their elitism. It’s ok to attack normal people but when you attack us ( The most corrupt group of bastards in the country incidentally), it’s sedition, treason and a threat to democracy. These people are the reason this country is so screwed up.

In the Minneapolis alone?

About 20 so far; anyone that they can prove were burning businesses/property (the majority of those charged were caught on camera at the 3rd Precinct, most charged with arson). More are being charged over time as identification is made.

So what’s your point—the other side did something bad, so that makes this OK?

Additionally, about sedition?

Let’s see what the law says:

18 U.S. Code § 2384 - Seditious conspiracy

"If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both."

H. G. Please don't lump all President Trump supporters in with the ones who entered the White House. There were thousands of Trump supporters who did not enter. They did stay outside and peaceably protest the certification of the electoral votes.
