mc operator slide can't be removed

I'm a new owner of a MC Operator. I disassembled it by removing the recoil spring first, now the slide won't come off, and when I try, it's hitting metal like something is blocking it from moving forward to slide out. I can slide it all the way back only if it's not upside down. I also tried to turn it upside down and knock on it, but the slide doesn't slide out still

I have tried reassembling the entire thing to attempt to remove the slide first, but it won't slide out.

I have read to just use a plastic mallet to just continue to knock it out forward, but not sure.

Any ideas why this is like this, in many 1911 disassembly videos, it did state I can remove the recoil spring first, therefore I went that route, but now this slide is stuck.

Any help to resolve this is greatly appreciated

Ok, did you take out the slide stop like you supposed to doing disassembly?

"Ok, try holding the gun after you got spring and slide stop out, with the slide on top, like you going to shoot it, sometimes the barrel will hang the slide up, especially on a new gun."

while the slide is on top holding in my hand after slide stop is out, it won't move forward, but can move it backwards. what is holding it from moving forward to remove?? i just hear metal on metal when I try. should i take a plastic mallet to the back of the slide?

I watched both of those videos, and both remove the recoil spring pressure first, and that is what i did. In hindsight, I should remove the slide first then the recoil spring to avoid this being stuck

sounds like you went too far back.

i am wondering if you went so far back, the disconnector is stopping you from going forward.

if so, use a brass drift, to push it down, then see if the slide moves forward.

you may have to use a rubber mallet to push it forward.

without pictures, we really cannot help you.

what is a brass drift?
so if i were to use a mallet to tap or pound on the back of the slide, it's ok andwon't hurt any internal metal hitting together?

Here is a youtube

Grab the slide in one hand and drive the web of your free hand into the back of the grip. You may have to do this a couple of times but it should get the slide off. You will need to be forceful. This is an accepted practice with a 1911.

i tried, and i pulled the slide all the way back and try to slam it forward to remove the slide, no go.

I'm so surprised nothing in youtube to show how to fix this.

But what is it hitting internally with the metal pieces?

Post pics of your 1912. That will help significantly.
yes, post pictures of your 1911, with the slide back, and forward, if possible, with the slide back, take pictures of the inside of the magwell area down into the feed ramp.

without seeing multiple angles/views, we cannot fully see what's going on.

originally, i thought it was jammed rearward, but you can get it moving forward.

the metal sounds you are hearing may be the barrel as well as the slide noises...

I have seen this only once with a new 1911 owner.
This person did as you have done, but forgot to remove the magazine and it was stopping the slide from moving forward.
I laughed and he laughed and in the end it all worked out...
you know, i really was thinking about the magazine in the very beginning, and was going to mention that, but "figure" he had already removed it.

and frankly, if he has any other semi-automatic, does this mean to say that he does not remove the magazine in that as well..??

if so, it would be on his part to assume he made sure he removed it.

I was thinking of this also, does this gun have a bushing, if so, it comes off also before removing the slide

Hi,

Let the old noob take a guess and show off his ignorance. :ROFLMAO:

Is the recoil spring guide still in the slide (on top of the barrel), possibly jamming up the works? Can you jiggle everything to try and get the barrel and guide aligned properly to allow removal?

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

He said he took the recoil spring out and that’s where the trouble started. I think that maybe the barrel link is jammed against something, although I don’t know what would do that. It will go back, not forward.

I’m also starting to wonder if we’re being trolled.

going on this, he may have to try and put back the spring, THEN the slide should move forward

i never gave the guide rod any thought myself.

good catch.
