I had every intention on joining the Marines, but was turned off by the recruiter who was insulting and argumentative. That's why I joined the Army instead. The Marine recruiter was shocked when I told him the good news.

Grandfather in the Air Force, cousin that was in the Navy and was a Navy SEAL. Younger cousin joined the Marines. I went with the Army, Fort Benning, 2002.

Does it depend on geographic location upon enlistment (e.g., east/west of the Mississippi)?
