last night i ordered most of stuff i needed to build the new stairs online with lowes, banking on the very positive experience a few weeks back with the lumber order and subsequent loading of my trailer, i figured "I GOT THIS"
NOPE not even close
order was complete at a bit after 8 45 last night, so i choose to wait to daylight to fetch the goods
i went in first and got the lumber i wanted to nick pick 1st and of course this involved two great lads running forklift to the top row
and then the followed me with forklift to my trailer.. EASY AS falling off a log

then i went back in to fetch my order and again went to lumber as directed and the same two young-ins now were to find my order, lets just say nearly an hour later it was found, unbanded and haphazardly stacked on a cart vice banded on two staves
plus 3 pieces of said lumber had to be sent back for defects caused by what looked like a forklift fork injection

so get it all loaded, tied down and head home

unpacked into the garage
and now the firearm parts.....
I have to move my safe and load bench to have them out of my way while building the stairs.
i may take this opportunity to unload safe and massive bench and hoist them up to the second floor new room
my only problem, is the amount of stuff loaded exceeds what the other party thinks is actually there

i am screwed if she does a COUNT

Just tell her (convincingly) that you've had most of that stuff for years and she's just forgotten about some of them since she doesn't use them regularly like you do. Then when she says: "Oh yeh,?" just what did this (?) cost? You tell her some ridiculously simple number like about 1/2 what it actually cost, and she'll think ... 'Well, at least he got a good deal on it'. But then you have to worry that when you pass away she'll sell them all for what you told her you paid, rather than what they're really worth. Or worse yet, give them to her new boyfriend!!!!

I once suggested to my wife that when I go, I'll come back to haunt her if she ever gets a new boy friend like me and gives all my guns to him! She immediately said ... what makes you think he'd be 'like you'???

I never pre-order from big box stores. Ever. In fact when I go there for say 20 2x4s I spend about an hour throwing all the crap to the side just to find 20 that aren't complete garbage.

Last night I laid out the piers for my deck. It's going to be 24 x 36, but it's tucked into an inside corner and wraps around the entire back of the house. Anyway, I'll have to first go shopping for Sonotube, threaded rod, brackets and concrete for the piers. (They will be hand dug by yours truly by the way, 42" deep, belled out at the bottom, 6" of screenings and the rest will be concrete.) Then I get to buy a ridiculous amount of 2x10x12s, hangers, screws, structural screws, etc. I will not be getting these from Lowes or Home Depot. And if I had to I would go in and pick them out one at a time. I'm estimating 4k give or take 1k just for the frame. Then comes the decking.

It’ll be ready for the July 4th cookout, right? 😁

Could always sneak 1/2 the contents of your safe upstairs to the new room stashed in the corner hidden in boxes, then ask your good lady to help move the rest upstairs and say "look I haven't got that many guns after all, everyone I know has more"
When she has gone out empty the boxes into the safe job done

She’s a woman. She’s way less interested in your stuff than you are. My guess is she doesn’t really have a clue what’s there.

“ I’ve had that one for years”. 😉

you ain't been married too long, have you..??

you wanna think a woman......."FORGETS"...????

uhhhh............a woman's' memory is greater than an elephants.

don't believe me..??

ask any man (not me of course, I KNOW BETTER), how long she remembers when you looked at another woman, or flirted with another woman...

"till the day she dies.....SHE REMEMBERS".......!!!!!!!!!

he'd @powerboatr, would be better off dialing 9-1-1 now, and have the ambulance ready at his front door.

Well, to answer your question, I've been married 56 years to the same woman come this June 30th. So yeh, I've got a pretty good grip on how well their memory is. But take note, I never said a woman forgets ........ anything! What I said was for him to be smarter and help her think she had forgotten some guns, etc. You just have to think these things through completely Old_Me. I learned many years ago, 'An inch of confusion/uncertainty is sometimes worth a mile of certain memory'.

I don't really think 'she' has ever forgotten anything .... 'I' just pretend to forget what we were talking about!!! ;):)

you might as well try to make her "pretend" she's sleeping with Tom Selleck.

that might work, better than trying to confuse her....

that's right, and also, if she wants your opinion, she will not only tell you but interrupt you, and say it for you.
our wives, girlfriends, mistresses, are always right.

better to be gay i say, at least then you got at least, half a chance of being right....... 🙄

you young n's save yourself now while you can, it's too late for us old farts, we're going down with the ship......and the old battleaxe, who will surely be on top of us, so they can get the last breath
