Four States Could Secede From US and Join Canada to Avoid Trump—​

A prominent Democratic New York State Senator has floated the fanciful proposition that her state and its northeastern neighbors secede from the United States to join Canada to avoid President-elect Donald Trump's return to office.

Liz Krueger, who chairs the New York State Senate Finance Committee, argued that the Empire State, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont, could all suffer under Trump's new administration.

Yep. Some of my ancestors tried seceding back in 1861. Needless to say it didn’t end up well, besides I believe it was considered illegal to leave the Union at the conclusion of that concurrence of Northern Aggression.

They're pro gun because there's only about 13 people that live in Vermont. Other than that they are very liberal.

I'm somewhat of a history buff and I seem to recall the democrats tried this once before sometime in the mid 1800's.

I seem to recall in more recent history the outcry and shaming just a few years ago when people in Texas were talking about ceding from the union.

We definitely need a national divorce. In fact I believe it is the only thing that would prevent the inevitable full blown civil war that is coming sooner or later.

I am still a supporter of the Texas Secede Movement. In 4 years all this BS we went through has a good chance of returning.

Or the move for Eastern Oregon and Eastern Washington to form a state with Idaho. Laughter and shaming followed that idea, too. Apparently the left doesn't get that many people are thinking about it.
