Not a good day today……..

Everything was going ok this morning, went to take my shower and my cat Cassie was outside the door, closed the door slowly and heard a thump and a hiss, some how she got her tail stuck in the door frame, 2 big clumps of fur, went to find her, she was under the sheets on our bed, blood was scattered about, checked her tail and it was bleeding, called vets up and rushed her out to them, she is still there now, been 3 hours, she has 2 places on her tail where her fur was pulled out, one about a quarter inch in length and the other 3/4 of an inch, one has stopped bleeding, not sure on the other one, she might have to get stitches if it doesn’t clot, I feel like an azz, I should have checked where she was at, my fault she got hurt, hopefully we get to pick up up and bring her home soon……
Don’t beat yourself up. It was an accident. She’ll bounce back and be fine. Animals are more resilient than we give them credit for. Eventually she leave a turd on your pillow as payback.

This is totally exactly what I was going to say. I just got to sit down for the evening...frantically trying to read all the posts here. @Annihilator I know exactly how you feel... My roommate and I in Winnipeg had a male Persian. He was old, and not very affectionate. I was up early to get ready for work. I opened my bedroom door and...stepped on the cat. My roommate got him to the vet, I had to work. He was okay, but I stepped hard. I was scared for him.

I didn't need any stitches. He ignored me, but that was normal. Then one night I was watching TV, and he jumped into my lap. (He had never, ever done that before). He stayed there until I got up to go to bed. Mr. Muggs had forgiven me. We were cool.

It'll be okay. 😊

Update, she is doing good, all she has done was to eat since we bought her home, went through a can of food so far and a good bit of dry food, drinking water to, she also had her 3 year rabies booster, so her hip is kinda tender. About an hour ago she came over to me purring and jumped into my lap and slept for about an hour, her tail looks ok, 2 nice scabs and I didn’t see any seeping or any blood anywhere, hopefully she will feel better in morning.

some "Jack" in her water, and she will sleep thru all of this...unless she gets pissed off cuz she likes it "on the rocks"..

good to hear, she is fine.........now i can take my early morning nap, knowing this.

Update: Cassie is at my vets today, she has to have part of her tail taken off due to the accident, she is in extreme pain, which has been causing her high stress, throwing up and loose stool, vet said the injured part of the tail, bone was exposed and wasn't healing.........all this due to me catching her tail in that door.........

oh boy...very sorry to hear this, i know how you must feel.

she will do fine, better than you think, real soon.

You can’t catch a break. Look at it this way… the vet caught it in time before infection. She will adapt to having her tail clipped. She will be fine. You will have to accept that accidents happen and you can’t beat yourself up about it. Focus on getting her better and put the guilt in the trash.

Cats tails are the Devil lol. Back in 2018 a buddy of mine and his family sat out a hurricane with his in-laws and during the stay their Maine **** got his tail shortened by a recliner........
Cooper is still alive and kicking, and mean as hell, from the sound of it, you caught it fast enough, but it'll be interesting nonetheless.
I look forward to updates on'm.

She will probably just rip only one of your balls off when you get home but don’t worry with all the pain meds you’ll be on you won’t feel it. 🙄🤦‍♂️😵‍💫😂
Look on the bright side you’ll both be wearing cones so you don’t lick your wounds.

Just kidding Anni she’ll be fine rest and get better.

Update: Cassie is doing good, eating and going to bathroom ok, she should be getting her collar of shame off this Thursday, same day I go to Pittsburgh for my consultation with my doctors, her tail looks good
