Prodigy issues

600rd update:

No issues (other than a dud round, not the guns fault)
6 different manufacturers ammo run through it. (Merica Ammunition ammo is VERY DIRTY and I hate it. Dud round was Merica.)

Really loving the Prodigy and yes, it does feel smoother than it did out of the box!
I can't get it to hang up on the disconnector anymore either.

saw on another forum Dawson Precision makes a tool-less guiderod for 2011s and it fits the Prodigy. Going to order that and put in the 12lbs recoil spring for this weekend. Seems like a lot of people are better responses with the heavier recoil spring compared to the stock 9lbs.

10-8 Performance is also offering a standard spring plug for the 5" Prodigy, TRP and Emissary that will allow you to use a standard GI guide rod/spring. Out of stock at the moment, but should be available soon.

Springfield should mention the guns need 500-rounds to break in. My Prodigy runs great after 600+ rounds.

went to go shoot another 300 rounds. didn't have any issues. still on stock 9lbs recoil spring. I love this gun. It just so easy to shoot. The only 2 things I don't like is the loaded chamber indicator just caking my optics with gun powder residue. And the other, I wish I got the 4.25. Saw one today. It's a wee bit bigger than a G19. You can totally AIWB it with a good holster.

For what it's worth, I just wanted to let people know about my experience with the 5" Prodigy. I put my 1000th plus round through mine yesterday and it runs really smooth now. Through the first 500 or so with the original 9 lb. spring right out of the box it had a lot of hiccups- failures to feed and failures to eject (whatever you want to call it, jamming, etc.). Through the last 500 rounds and a little more, after changing out the stock 9 lb. recoil spring with a Wilson Combat 12 lb. recoil spring and cleaning and lubing it twice I've only had 2 or 3 of these problems (0 in the last 214) and each of the jams were with Winchester 100 round value pack target 115 grain which actually appears a tiny bit longer than the 3 other brands I've tried with it. So, the gun has been performing great with the 17, 20, and 26 round magazines I have for it and I love it ! Great pistol, just takes breaking in and 2 minor adjustments (I smoothed the feed lips on my 17 round mag and changed out the recoil spring with a 12 lb.)
