Project Warhammer: Beginning a Shotgun Journey + Bonus

BTW, here's my own "social" shotguns.

1952 Rem 870 20" with extension magazine.

Mossberg 500 Turkey Gun 20" VR barrel with tritium front sight (now dead).

Mossberg 500 8-shot 20" with slug sights.

I've owned this Mossberg for well over a year now, but one thing I've been really stymied with on the Retrograde 18.5" is finding a light mount that works with the short barrel/tube + the heat shield. I know it looks cleaner and more 'traditional' without a light on it, but I believe a HD shotgun should have a light. Most mounts won't work with the heat shield in particular, and for the longest time, I couldn't find any solution that worked. I finally found this from CDM Gear and it mounts directly to the forward heat shield mount with longer screws, and works perfectly:

I already had an Inforce Gen 2 WML laying around that I wanted to use for this - it sits much lower profile than the Streamlight TLRs that I have, and I like the position of the tail switch on the Inforce. Of course, one thing leads to another, and given the length of the Inforce, it wouldn't attach directly to the CDM mount without toughing the fore-end slightly. Luckily, I had a low-profile 45º mount on hand which solved that problem:

With the offset, the Inforce mounts no problem, and is actually in the perfect position for my thumb to activate the light when the fore-end is all the way forward:

Also, here's a close-up of the XS Big Dot sight I put on the Retro. A huge improvement over the brass bead that comes with the gun:

And now that I've solved the WML dilemma, this is the finished product. I don't plan to mess with this anymore.

Nice setup.

I like the CDM mount & wish they were around a few years back for my 590A1.

I managed to find a pic rail that was mountable to the heat shield itself, and have a nav light on it since I have an older Streamlight forend light on it. Plus, I added a +2 mag tube extension on mine.

I have gone to a GG&G QD front sling mount where you have your light, and have a Samson QD adapter for the buttstock sling stud to run a Vickers sling with QD sling swivels on both ends.

I took the hard side saddle off & have gone to a shotgun card setup.

I was issued a Remington 870 Police Magnum once upon a time, wood furniture and 4 plus 1.......
My regular standbys have been a Norinco copy of an 1897 trench gun, and more recently a Mossberg 590.
Both were once used by the Marine Corps (yeah, yeah, yeah, 590A1, and actual Winchester 97, you get what you can get ), and both mount a bayonet.....
And for the M4 I'll never own, Panzerworks makes a clean that is so close to the Benelli, that their parts interchange, and for a about a third of the cost.

So do about 5 other Turkish companies. There's a couple guys here who have them. I don't think any of them would put them in the same category as the Benelli.

The Panzers are so-so.

I have an AKSA M4gery, though, that I’m quite pleased with…

That being said, a real M4 is in my hit list.
