Hi all, I am late to the party here, but my question is, are 2011s worth buying if you are just an "Average Joe" non-competitive shooter? Ok so I have been trained with my two pistols for months now, my Springfield "Defender" 1911 and my Taurus TH9C (9mm). I have gotten very good at both pistols and I EDC both alternating between the two. My wife and I love going to the range and having fun and training to holster and re-holster our pistols, (she has a Bersa Thunder 380 that's Pink) and quick shooting drills. Recently I noticed a few places around me area have some pistols on sale (Spring Sales). There's a great variety of firearms available for some great prices, but I was really interested in a 2011. I have talked to a few Gun shop workers in my area and they all seem to have different views on the subject. Some say they are just over priced "toys", some say they are "only" for competitive shooters, others say they are good but you have to pay lots for a "good one".
So I wanted to ask the member here what you all think about them, and are they a justifiable buy?
NOTE: I the firearm I am looking to purchase isn't necessarily going to be for EDC (though it could be it's just not my main focus), just a fun plinking gun for the range and to practice with and for use in home defense.
