Hey there!
It was kind of a busy day for me. Mrs. BassCliff is out of town so I hurried with all the chores and errands on today's to-do list so I could squeeze in an extra range trip this week. In between errands I was able to clean my new Ronin 9mm and install a little heavier recoil spring, replacing the 9lb spring with a 12lb spring.
The closer facility is closed on Mondays so I had to get over to the newer facility to procure my favorite, lane #6.
I was only shooting my latest acquisition, 1911 Ronin 9mm, and only 100 rounds. (I had to get back to let my dog out.)
I really like those 10 round Mec-Gar magazines. They work great and the base plate is stylish, doesn't stick out much or look ugly. I shot all at 10 yards today. I was mostly trying to verify my rear sight adjustments from last week. Dang, but that B-8 looks like a little black dot out there.
I'm going to shoot five B-8 targets and then switch it up just for fun. The first target came back like this. I guess that's about average for me.
I'll run through these targets pretty quickly because there's nothing here that really lights your powder, if you know what I mean. Target #2 is slightly better than the first.
Target #3 is not too shabby except for the one really bad flyer. There's one in every crowd.
I don't know what happened with target #4. Maybe I was shooting faster and let things spread. I should take better notes.
I settled down a little for target #5 but still let one get high. One of these days I'm really going to work on my consistency. I need to get used to the hold on this gun. I've just about got it figured out.
Here we go, just for grins and giggles, I'll peel off the other targets so we can get a look at the big ragged hole I made.
I really like shooting 10-shot strings. I can better tell the relationship between POA and POI. But one day soon I'll put 50 on the same bullseye and see how much I can chew out. Anyway, for my next trick I will shoot the whole box at a single target but I'll use five bullseyes. Someone mentioned the "You Suck" shooting correction chart recently so I thought I'd give it a try today.
I will put 10 hits on the "You Suck" target as well as on each of the 4" reactive circles. Well, I'll try my mediocre-est.
Well, it's official. According to this shooting correction chart, I suck. At least I don't have to leave the range. I shot the upper left bullseye the best. The other three spread out a bit. I think at this time I was in a little hurry because I heard the RSO come up to the guy in the lane next to me and say, "Always keep the muzzle pointed downrange!" I'm pretty sure the dividers are ballistic material but knowing that next door is someone who may not be well-versed in proper procedures can be disconcerting. I got done with my 100 rounds so I could split.
I'm hoping to take my new Ronin out again this week, maybe tomorrow. I'll let you know. This thing shoots so well that there's no excuse for me, other than I suck.
I did have one double feed today, the only malfunction. Now that the gun has 200 rounds through it, perhaps it is close to break-in and will settle down soon. I'll bring my favorite target too, see if that helps. Thanks for putting up with me.
Thank you for your indulgence,
BassCliff
