RealID… info on the card?

The other thread on the ammo vending machine derailed into “information” available to the overlords watching us.
It got me thinking about the RealID that we’re being prodded (forced) in to. More specifically, what type of information is held on the additional barcodes on the new form of identification? It seems ripe for implementation of a “social credit score” system, much like the one in China, linking all purchases to the RealID card, which must be scanned whenever you buy something.
Am I in “tinfoil hat” territory or does anyone else see us going in this direction?

Ok, what is a RealID card? Never heard of such a thing if I may ask?

Real ID is an enhanced drivers license/ID card that you can use to board an airplane (domestic flights) , gain access to federal buildings, etc.

thanks to the terrorists, our gooberment wants US to prove we are born Americans.

many states have a deadline as to when to get this, many others have pushed back.

with out the Real ID, one would have to provide proof of citizenship, like now a US Passport for flights, and entering Federal buildings.

there would be a "gold star" at the upper right corner of your drivers license, anyone could see, to allow you on a plane, into a federal building, etc.

the AAA office can process this Real ID come time to renew your drivers license, otherwise, your DMV...BUT..you MUST have a certified copy from your state, of your birth certificate...and i warn everyone, the spelling MUST BE 1000% correct.....

The thing I find so ridiculous with this real ID stuff, you cannot have it both on your driver's license and your State identification card.
Why?
You've jumped through all the hoops went through all the hassle so why not have both a real ID and a real ID driver's license?
For the sake of argument say you get a speeding ticket in your real idea is your driver's license, well until you go through all the court crap you no longer have a real ID. I learned decades ago when the state took my driver's license for a speeding ticket and I didn't have an identification card that there was a lot of things I couldn't do. Mainly get into bars or buy alcohol, not that that's a big thing in my life now but I'm sure there's other things that you have to have some sort of identification to be able to do.
Our DMV actually told me, to never carry my state ID or my driver's license in the same wallet because if I lose my wallet I now have no way to prove who I am?
Wait a minute you mean you can't look me up on your fancy machines at the DMV and see my picture and my mug standing in front of you is the same person to replace these identifications and driver's license, GTFOOH... That's just ignorant.

i cannot answer that..i just tried looking up my state's requirements of a state ID only card.....no mention on how that can also be certified as a "REAL ID".

maybe in time, that will be addressed..

otherwise, to travel via air, one might have to als obtain a Passport.>??

You mean like every time I buy pipe tobacco they scan my driver's license? But, I understand. Even though I'm a senior citizen, I'm oh so buff and young looking I'm contently mistaken for someone under 21. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: @$$hats

There are some stores that sell beer and wine near me that are “required” to scan you driver’s license regardless of age. I walked out leaving ~$100 worth of beer and wine on the counter. Home Depot does it for returns sometimes. I got into an argument with the manager about it. Finally he relented. So, i do seeing it becoming “normal” fir vendors ti scan your license.

In nj our realid will replace our driver’s license. They look the same but have some additional anti-fraud stuff on them but my main concern is the additional bar code. Curious to know what that’s for.
We don’t need to get a realid but then you can’t fly, or access certain gov’t buildings etc…

Ok thanks, my license has the gold star, I just thought it meant I was a good driver…….😬

Don't you live in Illinois?
If so then my comment is correct as I live in Illinois.
You can get it on one or the other but not both.

What is in the bar code. Well unless they changed things drastically in barcodes since I retired, surprisingly little.

Generally there is a start character that starts the read, a single line of information generally an ID number, and a stop read character, that's it. If either end character is trashed it's unreadable. Which Is why you get thicker bar code, they repeat the line multiple times to get a read. So the barcode can be read slanted as long as the start is first then end last.

The ID number links to a database which is where all your private info is stored for them to see. The reader they use is opened to a program that reads the ID barcode and goes into the database and grabs you.

I’d like to know what that “private info” is.

That's probsbly on the database not the card, it's whatever they have collected. Perhaps you could get access thru freedom of information, not sure what all that accesses.

To fit actual information in a barcode the code would be huge.

Now the electronic chips in cards that is a different ballgame... those things are why you keep those cards in a rfid sleeve
