Rem Oil

Since there’s not much to do here lately, I was going through some old gun cleaning products and ran across some Rem Oil, does anybody still use this. I know it got a bad rap about being to runny, it evaporites. I was always told this is how you were supposed to use this product, first if it runs, your using to much, your supposed to lightly use it. It’s supposed to evaporate, it leaves behind a thin layer and is supposed to look dry so it won’t attract dirt and such, as for lubrication it has Teflon in it and when it dries, the Teflon doesn’t evaporate, it’s still there to lube. You kinda use it like you are seasoning an old cast iron skillet, I have used it in the past and never had any issues of rust or lubrication issues. There are a lot of other products out there today, but back when I first started shooting, like my dad, I used this product.

I've never had a problem with too much oil you just need to find the right balance.
See my gun shoots fine with just a couple drops of Rem oil.

I have a big spray can of Rem oil, and about the only time I've used it on a gun, it was when I was using it to spray/wash crap out of the trigger mechanism of a rifle I inherited that did not appear to have been cleaned since the 70's. Spray the Rem oil, then blow all the crap out with the air compressor. At the moment, that can of Rem oil is in the garage, and I've been using it in place of the WD40 to oil bicycle chains and door hinges...

Ballistol is my preferred firearm lubricant and cleaner these days.
