How do I keep the front screw on this scope mount from backing out?
I sighted my new S/A NM in w/Federal GM 168 BTHP’s.Shot 5 in a 1/2” group @ 100yds.This was after firing approx 6 rnds to get it in the Xring.
Luckily my first round-(no bore sighting) was @ 10 o’clock in the 9 ring.
Took it out a few days later on a hog and deer hunt.Shot at a buck 75 yds out....clean miss.Next day shot at a hog....clean miss.Looked through my scope and the vertical crosshair was canted 30degrees to the left.I grabbed the scope and was able to rock it and the base back and forth. The front base screw had backed out.I was EXTREMELY UPSET!!!
How do I eliminate that?I got it home, removed the screw, applied alcohol to the threads and the internal threads in the rcvr, dried them out and loc-tited it back in.Haven’t tried to shoot it since.
