School Me on Berettas, Please

After OSI issued the M9 when they first came out in the 80's to replace the subcompact 1911, it soon became apparent it presented concealment problems, especially for smaller framed agents. I thought the M9 was one of the most accurate pistols I had ever fired. They were soon replaced with the SIG M11, a superb carry pistol which lasted 30 years.

Now agents can carry a personally owned weapon from an approved list of 27 guns, but their basic issue is now a Glock 19 or Glock 26. FLETC influence.
Second you on the Sig M11. Carried the 1911 all throughout my career including Desert/Shield Storm. As a civilian qualified with the M9 before going to Bosnia but didn't/wouldn't allow certain folks to carry. I thought the M9 was OK. First Iraq tour it was crazy and we would scrounge what we could when outside the wire, M9s, Browning Hi-Powers, etc. 2d tour the agency qualified me on the M11 and I loved it. Unfortunately, when I got into theater no more M11s to issue so I had the M9 again. Not complaining (much) but I missed the M11.

SIG M11/P228 seems to meet all my criteria. I'll add it to my short list. Thanks! ;)

Sigh.

You’re acting like I cared enough to read 3 pages.

But.

Get a P9S. Or a USP Expert.
You've cared enough to suggest a fistful of HK products.

USP seems to fit my criteria. It goes on my short list. Thanks! ;)

P9S also seems to fit my criteria--technically. I don't care for the concealed hammer, but I'll put it on the short list with an asterisk. ;) Also, I can't remember the last time I actually saw one, new or used, in the Real World.

USP Compact if you want small; P2000 also.

P30SK or P2000SK for smaller. Personally, the P30SK is my favorite subcompact plastic DA/SA. It can get bumped up to 17 or even 20rd mags, to boot.

Although—the P228/P229 is a brilliant pistol. I’m likely going to get a Legion P229 in the near future, and move my P229 Classic and maybe the Swiss P228.

Consolidation of the collection.

I don't care about small, just a weight in the 24-30 ounce range--and 9mm, 4-5" barrel, and "conventional" SA/DA operation.

I don't doubt it, but "Langdon massaged" keeps it off my list. Whatever I choose has to be reasonably priced and ready-to-go right out of the box. ;)
yeah, at that price for a 9MM, i'd not go as high as my "up to" $700-$800 price range

It's not on the SIG website (that I can find, anyway). The pics I found look like it's a compact/subcompact or something. Is it available with a full-length grip and at least 4" barrel?
They don’t make the 224 any more. M11 A1 is as close as you’ll get.

The M11A1 is an updated version of the M11. It is essentially a P229, same size identical in most respects to the P228 with increased capacity and one piece slide.
